John and his team did a terrific job for us. We had to source a large quartz tabletop last minute when another company broke the piece we had ordered months earlier. John pushed our job through and got it done in time for the holidays. An outstanding customer service experience.

Remodeling a house is a very stressful experience, so anytime a subcontractor does what they say they're gonna do, when they say they're gonna do it, it's a pleasant surprise. Granite by Design did just that. Delivering quality product on time when we needed it. John and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. We selected the stone and basically, they did the rest. If only all subs were as good! We did 3 vanities, a pantry, and a kitchen with an island, one of which had a custom cutout for a soda draft arm. All installed in less than 4 hours. Well done!

Granite By Design exceeded our expectations with their exceptional workmanship, transparency and outstanding team. They delivered exactly what we envisioned for our 1950 Avondale home kitchen remodel. Every detail, from the first call we had with John, to the countertop measurements by the owner was unique. The quote was on par with other local Charleston fabricators, we did our homework and these guys are the best in the business. The final in-person 3D marble design consultation made it so easy to visualize how our slabs would look in our kitchen. The technology they have on-site ensures their cuts are flawless and finely executed. First off, John was top-notch on the phone and via email. He was kind, genuine, and prompt. I felt at ease the minute he talked to us. John’s top priority was to deliver us with the vision and quality we wanted. What we loved about him was his honest feedback, quality service, and commitment to not cutting any corners (no pun intended). The installers were top-tier. Christian and his crew ensured every piece of stone and detail was perfectly placed. They were perfectionist - no other way to say it. He made sure everything was precise, a quality you rarely see in this business, which means so much to us. I can honestly say the install crew treated our marble like it was their home. Icing on the cake; our contractor walked into the kitchen after the waterfall islands were placed and said that this work was rare, not just anyone can do this! John went above and beyond to make sure everything was delivered ahead of schedule, even early in time for Father's Day, a special occasion that I had planned. In fact, the installation happened on our wedding anniversary where we celebrated by cooking just the two of us in our new kitchen. This team knows how to make life moments happen flawlessly and with the utmost care. They work to perfection. Our kitchen would not be a true masterpiece if we had not found them.

We had a terrible experience with Granite by Design and would not recommend them. We hired them through our general contractor to fabricate and install our marble countertops and slab backsplashes. We purchased three full slabs from another supplier so we could match veining and create a seamless look. At their design center, we worked with Lea on the layouts to ensure we could visualize the final design, use our desired slab for the island, and ensure all pieces and veining would line up. We selected the layout, signed our waiver, and waited for our install date. Everything seemed great, and they were a pleasure to work with. While the install was quick and professional, we quickly realized they had cut the slabs completely differently from what we agreed upon. I don’t just mean minor variations, but completely mismatched veining, a different slab used for our island, etc. Wildly and obviously different. When we reached out to them to discuss why they didn’t fabricate according to our layout, Lea initially claimed there was no difference. When we showed pictures of the agreed-upon design compared to the final product, they insisted changes had to be made during the cutting process. Despite approving the design and signing the waiver, we never received a call about any changes before they cut up and essentially ruined our three slabs. It seemed like a shame to rip out all that beautiful marble, and we were up against other timelines, so I offered to split the cost of the slabs and was willing to take a credit for the rest of our project. They never responded to that offer, and we took our business elsewhere. While they waived the fabrication and install charges, we never received an apology or acknowledgment of their mistake from anyone at Granite by Design. They failed to fix their mistake and didn’t even attempt to make things right. I wouldn’t trust them with a major component of your home. This is the first and only review I've ever left.

I updated my kitchen and was referred to Granite by Design by my contractor. I am so glad I called them and spoke to John. John and his team did an amazing job and I’ve had multiple compliments about how wonderful the marble looks. John even helped me with marble selection and layout. It did take them several weeks to fabricate the marble but man was it worth the wait!

Granite by Design is an excellent source for quality stone countertops and outstanding service. They are my "go to" countertop company in Charleston. It’s a pleasure to work with them from the selection process through installation. They always go the extra mile for us. We used them for all the countertops in our main house and carriage house, and I couldn’t be happier. Beautiful products, fair prices, great service. I had my GBD install new quartz counter tops and they removed my granite to be installed in my sons 1 BR condo in a small kitchen. They charged almost $1300 to cut one piece and install two other 27" pieces. we cut the existing bar down to counter height to create an eating area. when GBD did the installation, they did not create the 1 foot hangover. my son finally spoke to Jamie and he refuses to make it right. I would not use this company.

My dad is contractor so I know any kind of home improvement can end up to be a disaster. But this process with Granite by Design has been the easiest process in my home improvements. Cindy made picking out the product so easy not to mention fun. The installers are so professional and friendly and very efficient they got the job done quickly. You've got a lifetime customer here.
