Just go anywhere else. They literally installed a piece of counter they broke during fabrication and epoxied back together. When confronted they denied it and said it was a natural fissure. I took photos of the slabs prior to fabrication that refute any possibility of this. Their next response was it is safe and meets industry standards. The only thing distinctive is a long history of poor business practices. I should have heeded the warnings in the other reviews.

Their team was professional and so kind during what was a difficult remodel due to a house flood. They even saw design opportunities to help make our kitchen island a *better fit* for our home! Our kitchen is the heart of our home and where our whole family loves to be now. We always get compliments on the island and countertop surfaces. Grateful for their professionalism and true expertise!!

We worked with West to get an additional countertop for some extra cabinet additions in our kitchen. The finished product is exactly what we wanted. The installers did a great job. They were prompt and very efficient. Highly recommend!

We worked with West to replace our kitchen sink. We weren't having our counter tops replaced so we had to find a sink that would work with our current cut out. I emailed sinks to West that I was looking at and he told me if it would work or not. He was quick to respond and very helpful. We would use Distinctive Surfaces again.

Distinctive services did our butcher block countertops in our laundry room they came out fantastic. The installers were super friendly, did a great job and were very tidy. Will definitely use them again when we update our kitchen.

I am a builder in Columbia and have used Distinctive Surfaces for the past ten years. Christian and wife Lauren run a fantastic operation. Construction can be difficult and many headaches are involved. Distinctive works hard to eliminate those headaches. Their final product can take on any of the other fabricators I’ve used in Columbia. The sales people take time to treat customers professionally during the selection process and that continues for the entire length of the project. Tad then measures the job with a laser, something most other fabricators don’t do, to ensure a perfect fit. This also makes it easy for the customers to then come in and pic what part of the slab they want where. The owner is involved on deciding seams and orientation. He has a very keen eye and makes it his top priority to have the job look its very best. Their turn around time is very reasonable and will work with you when schedules are tight. Customers and I are continuously pleased from start to finish. The final product is gorgeous and if any hurdles pop up Christian is quick to solve them. I highly recommend them and thank them for all they do. Side note - they do a lot of installs and because of that they have one of the best remnant selections in town!

Distinctive Surfaces did a fantastic job on our countertops in our new kitchen. We asked them to come back for a small job. This was to remove a double sink and install one single stainless steel sink. Communication was terrific. Scheduled it rather quickly and completed it. Very neat. Very professional. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

I have been engaging with Distinctive Surfaces since February 2023. On March 8, templating of the approx. $20,000 job was complete. I was promised a fabrication window of 3-4 weeks. It's now been nearly TWO MONTHS since the templating has been completed and fabrication still has not commenced. They have been holding ~$9,000 as a deposit since the beginning of March. I am calling and emailing nearly daily to no avail. I was told the owner, Christian, would call me back days ago. Still silence. During this time, I've had to delay other trades on the job more than once, incurring additional fees. I'm about to lose one of the trades for another job due to their unprofessionalism. I am a real estate investor and have worked on many jobs and have never experienced negligence such as this.

Better communication skills would not recommend. I do not normally leave reviews but was not satisfied. Amanda was my sales person.

Garry and Brian were great !!!!!! Quartz countertops look fabulous. Needed information given, courteous and prompt. Garry caught error made by the person that measured faucets and able to correct (will h measured). This would have been a costly error. Kudos to Garry and Brian.

Everything about our experience was exceptional. Sam was very responsive and helpful with the selection, measurement and scheduling. The installers were on time and did an excellent job on the installation. We recommend Distinctive Surfaces without reservation. We will not be using anyone else on future projects.

Our company had a great experience working with Distinctive Surfaces for our last three remodel projects. Laura Kay can help you meet deadlines and work with any client budget. Our experience started out well with Blair (who is no longer there) then went downhill with the install. We wanted to replace our kitchen countertops with a quartz product. On install day, one countertop was cut to short, one was cut too long and the soap dispenser hole was missing. Only the longer countertop was installed that day. After the crew left we removed the plastic cover and we realized the countertop color/pattern was different than the sample. We had to follow up with Distinctive Surfaces the next day after not receiving a follow-up call from the company. After 3 weeks, the owner finally viewed the one countertop and reported that variation can still occur with quartz products even through we were told that quartz had very little variation. The owner never offered an apology for the inconvenience and bragged about how many jobs he had done in our neighborhood even implying about getting a difficult project completed with one of our neighbors by last name. After contacting two neighbors by that last name (coincidentally both used DS) and hearing their negative experiences, we realized that we needed to part ways with Distinctive Surfaces. By our due diligence our contact was cancelled, the one countertop was removed and our payment was refunded. I warn others that you may have a good experience but if you don’t, it can go really bad. I did some research after the lack of customer service and found out this is not Christian’s first business (Cosa Bella). Even though Distinctive Surfaces has a nice, convenient showroom it is not worth the time, money or hassle if the project goes bad. Do note, at least one of the positive reviews is an employee of the business; wonder how many other reviews are from employees/friends of the owner?
