I was looking for a granite company in the middle of remodeling an older home when accidentally I saw the Dernis building while driving and pulled in. I had remembered their name from a recent Homerama. I had no appointment (obviously) and the salesperson Cat Strathmann welcomed me and took her time explaining and showing samples. She helped me through the whole process, gave me advice and opinion and I ended up getting the granite from them. I had several estimates, Dernis beat all of them and everyone at Dernis did a wonderful job. We have now a beautiful kitchen and bathrooms and we are very happy with all!

When I began researching granite counter tops for our kitchen remodel I was clueless. I started at Dernis and met Cheryl Setliff. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. She took my measurements and provided me with quotes on two different granite stones that I selected. I proceeded to get two other quotes. Dernis had the BEST prices of the three and thus began the process of getting my counter tops installed. Cheryl walked me through the entire process. The gentleman who came to do the laser measurements was so professional and friendly. I then went and picked out my stone and the installers came shortly thereafter. their installers were unfamiliar with proper installation procedure for a fireplace hearth. this particular installation consisted of a 3/4" x 20" x 84.5" piece of marble. the installers thought to merely squirt random blobs of construction adhesive on the floor and lay the slab on it. however, at only 3/4" thick, leaving voids under a soft atone like marble us asking for cracks and disaster at the first dropped piece if firewood. I had inquired about thinset installation when I purchased the stone and was assured of their "quality installers." which came with neither thinset, nor the tools required to use it. fortunately I had everything here. but even after giving them my materials and tools, the installer seemed to have no clue how to use the thinset...spreading it with a 3" putty knife instead of the notched trowel I provided him. in a fit of annoyance and disgust, I took it upon myself to complete the installation that I had already paid for them to do. beautiful stone...useless installers!
