(Skip to chapter two if you want to be spared the drama.) Had to update my review after spending over $6000 here, our most recent order was miscalculated by their employee and we had to order additional tile to finish the project. Unfortunately the new tile didn’t match and when we asked the person working there for help (who we later found out was the owner Sam) we were told by Sam that it was our fault and our contractors fault, and that the best he could do after berating and chastising us is send us 10 replacement tiles that (spoiler alert) won’t match. If you know anything about natural stone it’s IMPERATIVE you get any supplemental tile from the same cut or crate as the original tile. As a retired business owner I understand that he is trying to rectify the situation (or pretend he is trying to) as cheaply as possible, even though we’ve spent a small fortune buying product from his business. This is disgraceful, and petty and will result in or rather, is resulting in delaying my foreman and his crew from moving forward on the project, which is in turn costing me man hours, and non use of the room being renovated which is costing me use hours. Not an honorable businessman, a different selection from places like Lowe’s and Home Depot, but tile outlets return policy is garbage, their loyalty to their customers is even worse, and god forbid you ever have to deal with the owner Sam, because he will belittle you unless you’re putting money in his hand. Instead go to a store called ‘All Natural Stone’ also located in Dublin, affordable prices much wider selection and they even treat you like valued customers.

I have an excellent selection of tile especially things that are more decorative than what you would find at large hardware stores. I liked there selection of highly detailed pieces for use above columns or centerpieces. they're very knowledgeable about the things that they have and can offer great advice on both technical and aesthetic levels.

I am kind a picky for the perfection in my own right but she is so patient to select and show me a item after item. Would NEVER buy from any Tile Outlet Always in Stock again. Bought over 200 sq ft. of marble tile from this store, but my contractor would not use over one third of it saying the tiles were broken/cracked/chipped or otherwise defective. The store owner would not refund or exchange, so I escalated to the corporate office. They said that I had to deal with the local branch, and refused to give me a refund. So now I have to buy more tile from somewhere else to make up for the defective ones I got from them. I highly recommend you go buy tile from somewhere else. (Original review - Aug 10, 2009) UPDATE (Aug 29, 2009) - after giving them poor online reviews and filing and complaint with the BBB, I finally got a refund for the damaged tiles. But then the corporate office threatened to sue me for "defamation" because of my negative online reviews. It just reaffirms my opinion of them - they are nothing but trouble, I would STAY AWAY!

They have a huge selection of beautiful tiles. I was remodeling my kitchen and needed tiles for the floor and new countertop. I came here and with the huge selection of up to date tiles I didn’t know what I wanted because I liked everything. Hidden Gem For Home Design. I have worked with Sam, owner of The Tile Outlet, for over ten years and 25 separate projects. He is my go to for my design needs. Sam is an extremely talented professional who easily understands your project, offers excellent ideas, and has an innate sense of design. His store is filled with product options from high end materials to those offerings which will fit into any budget. Sam, and his assistant, Jenna, are hands on. They are extremely educated and passionate about the products they offer and are a pleasure to work with from start to finish. My most recent backyard patio redesign was a major challenge due to my location on a hillside. A landscape architect and structural engineer could only offer options which included major demolition associated with high cost. After meeting with Sam, he suggested an innovative, high tech product which would float over my current tile resolving the problem. He stays abreast of new technology and thinks outside the box. I am a demanding customer and they have not only met my expectations but have exceeded them for over a decade. I encourage you to visit the store. You will be amazed.

We bought our bathroom tile here. The owners are so friendly and very helpful. They have a large selection of tile, flooring and counters. We had to come back several years later to replace a tile and the owner helped us find the tile even though we had no sample with us. He looked it up in the system and located it right away. I would definitely come back for a future project.

After viewing pictures of our bathroom, Sam helped design our bathroom remodel to replace an old shower/tub combo and vanity. He selected the materials carefully and coordinated with Hien & his crew to install a new vanity, floor / wall tiles and glass panels for a customized shower. The team worked 8 hours daily and cleaned up at the end of each day. Great value for a successful remodeling job with The Tile Outlet and we are very happy with the beautiful workmanship!

We needed a partial kitchen upgrade and after meeting with other local tile store employers we went to the Tile Outlet. I met with Sam and he quickly impressed me with his knowledge and interest. After I described what we wanted/needed and showed him pictures of the kitchen he actually sketched out a plan that day that, with a few modifications, created the kitchen we have today. Sam provided the materials and suggested local installers to do the work. He then worked with us and the installers and took great interest in the progress of the project and helped us coordinate with the installers. My wife and I are still surprised a few months later how much we love our new kitchen. I am very happy with Sam and his staff and will return for our next project.

I have a rental unit in San Ramon area (as an absentee owner) which was thoroughly destroyed by a not so lucky renter. I went to many tile stores for restoration without any success until Tile Outlet. Sam came out same day and whole estimate two days later! What a quick service and what a price!! And what a turn around time!!!. I had to work hard to deliver appliances, fixtures, etc. to meet their schedule not the other way around. This is the go to place for any restoration project. I am giving him 5 stars plus one more.

I had a small backsplash project at home, and found nothing I liked at the home stores. My contractor suggested Tile Outlet. I went there and was quite impressed with the large selection of quality tile. Sam, one of the owners who helped me, showed me around the store and was extremely helpful and nice. And he created a lovely design from my selected tiles which was perfect! I ordered two cases of tile which which was delivered to the store in just a matter of days. Unfortunately there was a snafu from the supplier making one case of the tile unusable. Sam cheerfully corrected the issue 100%! He couldn't have been nicer. Huge selection of beautiful tile, wonderfully helpful people, and they want you to be happy with your purchase!

We were planning a fireplace remodel- covering our existing brick fireplace with a modern tile. I never got her name but the woman at Tile Outlet was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She took my measurements and got us exactly the correct amount of tile for the job, explained the process and what we'd need, and coordinated with the installer (Enrique's Tile and Granite- who are AMAZING!!). It was a wonderful, easy experience and I will definitely be back with any future tile needs.

The Tile outlet is the only place I go now to get my tile. They have the best showroom and the best customer service. I've shopped at other stores but they don't have a good showroom or they take a month to get anything in. The initial work I spent getting quotes and getting to know the various suppliers in the area was well worth it... Sam and Jenna are professional and honest person who take pride in what they do they are experience and very courteous in introducing the vendors who did the install ... We have purchased tile through The Tile Outlet for numerous projects over the last 5 years. Sam Hahn, the owner, couldn't be more helpful! Initially, we just purchased in-stock tile for our bathrooms. Then, when we were thinking of remodeling our master bath, Sam came to the house and created the drawing that we ended up using as our plan. He let us take numerous tile samples home to see how they looked in the space, really listened to us on what we were looking for and our budget, and did all of this without any commitment on our part that we would go forward with an order. All the tile we ordered from him, and the granite for the vanity, came on time and at a very fair price. Sam referred tile setters for our job and I can't say enough about his recommendation.The finished master bath looks amazing - a testament to Sam's design, quality products, and flawless tile installation.

Wow!! What a fantastic place, great selection and service is top notch!! We were remodeling 3 bathrooms and not only did tile outlet have better prices than competitive stores, but they helped us match, came up with alternate ideas and even drew out the placement of tiles and everything just from my memory of where the placement of the items in the bathroom were going to be. They even went as far (after my order was placed) to order additional alternative cigar moulding for one of my bathrooms trim so that when i picked up the order, I had an additional choice that he thought I might like. Five star service, couldn't have asked for a better experience!!! My contractor recommended them and I made sure to pass along the excellent service and review. Would go back again for sure!!

We walked in with vague ideas for a small project to beautify an empty concrete patch. Sam, the owner quickly sketched out an elegant very cost effective design on a piece of paper. He patiently cross checked the pricing on all different tiles, borders and accents. He saved us so much time in coming up with a design for this small project without having to over spend our budget. We were looking to replace carpeting in our family room and hallway with porcelain tile. After visiting a number of flooring shops we ended up at The Tile Outlet. They had a great selection and their prices were reasonable. Sam was very knowledgeable and helpful, even allowed us to take samples home (with a deposit)..They have contractors they partner with and the tile setter who installed our flooring did not disappoint.Not only were they prompt, and efficient but left the garage floor (where they cut the tiles) cleaner than before. We ended up having to pick up a few last minute supplies but no big deal. We have recommended The Tile Outlet to friends and will be using them for future projects!

I ordered tile from Sam at Tile Outlet for my guest bathroom and laundry room. Once the contractor finished the bathroom it was obvious that we wouldn't have enough tile to finish the laundry room. I called Sam and he expedited tile that we picked up the next day. The contractor finished the laundry room. The problem was that the second shipment was the same tile but a different shade and it was already installed in my laundry room. I called Sam the next day and he had his tile guys come and tear out the tile and put in all new tile so that it all matched. He did this willingly free of charge without me throwing a fit. I felt sure he would give me a hard time, but I was pleasantly surprised! Sam proved to me that he is an honest, ethical business man that takes pride in his work. I am one very satisfied customer and I would definitely return to Tile Outlet again in the future.

Tile Outlet sold me the flooring for a Terra Cotta floor in my family room. Sam did a detailed design for the floor including an intricate pattern and border of slate and hand painted tiles. The result - people have said it is a work of art. It looks like something straight from Italy or Spain. Extremely pleased with the beauty do my new floor.

I am a fan because quite simply SAM HAD THE RIGHT CHINA MULTI STONE TILE I NEEDED FOR MY PROJECT IN DUBLIN...A few things to improve on...about 10% of the tile I ordered was broken upon delivery...no refunds...I had to reorder more tile to complete my project but Sam got it for me the very next day from LA so that was good. Bottom line, they have a great selection but make sure you order atleast 15% more than you need in case you get broken tiles in shipping. To be fair I broke a few samples that I borrowed and Sam refused to charge me for them...good people...price was little high but fair considering they got it for me in just a few days. I would recommend Tile Outlet...especially if having a hard time finding what you need...they look to be set up to order from anywhere. My project turned out great but little over budget. Thank You Sam, hope 2014 is a great year for you.

We visited Tile Outlet when we were in a rush to complete our bathroom remodel and another tile vendor fell through on purchased materials that suddenly were no longer in stock. We received great customer service here and even got some design help for the layout of the tiles. The completed bathroom remodel looked excellent and we were very pleased. Tile Outlet was not the cheapest, but they provided great customer service and would recommend them to others.

We needed tile for a bathroom that had a leak. We walked in to the Tile Outlet at 4:30pm on a Friday not really knowing anything about what we wanted or needed, and walked out 45 minutes later with everything in order. We thought they had plenty to choose from, their prices were reasonable, and owner was knowledgeable. Even though they have signs everywhere saying "always in stock," they had to order the tile & it was delivered a week later, which was fine since we weren't ready for it anyway. The tile & supplies arrived on time, and the owner was really on top of communication with us and the tile setter we ended up using. The owner is super organized and easy to reach, which we really appreciated. Here's why I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5: First, they recommended a plumber/tile setter based out of Livermore that we did not end up using because we got a bad vibe from him, and his prices were a bit more than what we were able to find elsewhere. I think they should consider working with more than just this one partner. Also, they forgot to give our tile setter a box of tiles when he picked up the order. So, I had to drive to Pleasanton and pick them up myself, which wasn't easy since I was 8 months pregnant. The tile wasn't in a box or anything, and some of it got damaged during the drive home. I understand that mistakes happen, but I wasn't totally impressed by the way they handled it. They could have at least put the tile in a box, or something, so that it wouldn't get damaged. Luckily, we had more than enough, so it wasn't an issue. And, they immediately admitted to their mistake when I contacted them (I was kind of expecting them to deny it since our tile setter was supposed to have double checked the order when he picked it up) so that makes up for it. We will definitely be using Tile Outlet again in the future for any & all tile needs. I will just be a little more careful about referrals and making sure that we double check the order when picking it up.

This place definitely offered a lot more selections of flooring/tiles compared to chain stores such as Lowe's or Home Depot. The tiles were nicely displayed in a way that made it easier for the customers to check them out, which I greatly appreciated. However, if price was one of your main concerns, it might be a little hard to browse here as they didn't really display the pricing. The shop owners would be more than happy to check the price for you if you told them which tile you were interested in, but you wouldn't get that convenience of knowing the price right away. The shop owners also would be happy to suggest other tiles of similar texture or color that came at a lower price, but again, you'd have to communicate a lot with them. And that's fine if you're ok with that, but some people like myself prefer to kinda do our own cost estimation in our head - just a preference. Also another thing to keep in mind was that, while they had some tiles ready and available on site, they did inform me that most of the tiles would need to be ordered. Order time of a week was "very doable". Finally, although the store was located on Dublin Blvd, just keep in mind that it might not be necessarily apparent or visible from the boulevard. Just follow your GPS, and enter the parking lot for the building with a smog advertisement on it, and the store in just right next door.

This is an edit to my original review. Since my yelp review Sam the owner has reached out to me and apologized for the inconvenience. He offered a compensation for any misc fees with the contractors due to the delay of the tile. This has led me to believe that Sam may care about his customers after all, I do wish it didn't take a yelp review to have him see that. He also told me he would work on his communication and has apologized for how things had happened and I felt him to be sincere.

It's just difficult to communicate and our order was botched. My wife picked out tile and communicated the timeline we were in. They said "Yes, we'll have it on Friday. I came in Friday and they looked confused, spoke to each other in another language and then said "Monday." Ok, so project delayed. Nothing Monday. By Wednesday it had come in, but instead of 15 boxes, they only had one. They said they would refund our money. (Ya think so?) Folk, there are great resources for tile in Hayward and other places. We took out business elsewhere and won't be back.

Sam and his wife are nice enough. Very polite. But then follow-through is poor. I would be careful documenting things really well and doing an exact count of your tiles. When I went to pick up the order, I noticed that I was charged for 3 extra tiles (I ordered about 20 tiles total). Sam was very adamant that I had ordered them. It was only like $10 extra for the add'l tiles so I said fine, I'll take them. But then I got home and opened the box, the 3 extra tiles were missing. I called Sam back ... long pause (I take it that he realized he had messed up), he said he would look into it and call me back on Mon (it was Fri). Never heard back. Had to dispute it via my credit card company. What a hassle for $10 overcharge.

Wonderful experience, up until I was shorted the tile I needed to finish my bathroom, then made to buy this "matching tile" and then made to buy the whole bathroom floor again just to get the tile matching because the owner wouldn't take some responsibility and I was on a time constraint. What a prick by the way, normally I'm against giving business to big corporations, but in this case you're better off going elsewhere. Good luck on your projects.

Super annoyed after driving from SF to find this place closed, when I arrived during the operating hours. Hours are posted on the door and online and nobody was here. Try to avoid this place. They are a lot more expensive than competition, which we didnt realise while buying. Also, the owner will not be honest about the details and will only try to sell you stuff. We had to buy 2 island stones and 2 countertop. The guy didnt tell us that the island slab and counter top slabs generally dont match in color even if they are the exact same type, because they are from different stock. We even showed all the schematics and design of the kitchen which clearly had the island (peninsula) connecting to counters, but he didnt even mention that they could be different, because then we would have explored more options. He was very eager to sell us that, so trusting that he would know more we bought 4 slabs. Now we have an island slab which is different from the counter top, so after spending thousands of $, we are still covering the edges with things to hide the color difference :( We realized all that when the installer came by and mentioned that its pretty well known that these slabs are different. Even the installer he recommends can barely take a measure, for the island waterfall he was 3/4 inch off, so there was a gap between the waterfall and cabinets sides. Then I had to suggest options to put filler between the cabinet. Anyway, I am already screwed, hopefully other can stay away from this place.

We were looking for tiles for our kitchen and visited this store. The store is somewhat cramped but Jenna the owner was helpful trying to help us find what we need. Long story short we found what we like and Jenna told us these are nice Italian made tiles. She quoted me a price and we negotiated a small discount and she agreed. Came back a week later to pick up the order and things seemed fine. On the back of my mind I wondered if I paid a fair price so I searched online and found a store that sells the exact same tile that would have saved me 40% with shipping included. I emailed her and asked for a partial refund for what she overcharged and she declined. Few weeks later, my contractor started the job and told me the tiles were actually made in USA, not Italy. "Made in USA" is stamped on the back of the tile. I contacted Jenna and she still assured me these are Italian made tiles. I asked her to take back what I have not used and offer me a partial refund for the difference between price I paid and what the online store charges. Waiting to see what she will do. If you do go to her store, beware of the followings: 1) they have a "no refund/exahange" policy. 2) pay attention to what they tell you and verify the information 3) do your homework and not get overcharged. Once you purchase and paid, everything is FINAL!!!

Received services a month ago and was not satisfied at all. Their attitude was awful and rude. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I am not too familiar with the industry. Prices were jacked up, and I wish I went elsewhere. I would not recommend this establishment to any of my friends.. Id give them a zero if I could.

Very disappointed with the quality of product. One tile I love but the other came in and was all the sheets were stuck together and when trying to separate, they fell off the mesh. The color was nothing like the sample. When returning they charged me a restocking fee which was never mentioned prior to buying. They also charge way more than most reputable tile shops. Be aware that OUTLET means no quality and no customer service. Try Nala or Arizona tile. Stay away from this business.

Too bad I can't give a NEGATIVE review! What an unbelievably shady business. After calling to confirm that their tiles are in-stock and available for immediate pick-up, I drive over, only to find that this is not true. They have a few boxes of mismatched closeouts, but everything else is special order. Then, no prices are written anywhere. I ask how I know the cost of the tiles, and the guy says, "Show me what you want and I'll tell you." After he gives me a price, another customer whispers to me that he had given her a different price on the same tile! He then dropped the price twice in an attempt to get me to purchase. (Still higher than other stores!) Not a reputable business. DO NOT waste your time.

My husband and I recently moved out to Brentwood. We decided to drive to Dublin specifically to look at tile at the Tile Outlet. We arrived 1:50 PM on a Tuesday. There was a sign on the door saying "Doctor Appointment" with a clock that said 2:30. Since we wasted all the gas and time to go, we went to lunch to pass the time. We came back at 2:40. Still no one...so we waited. We watched at least 2 others come and go. We finally left without ever even stepping in the door. If someone needs to schedule a doctor's appointment then someone else needs to cover their shift OR get an 8 AM appointment or go to urgent care after they close. They should never shut their business down in the middle of the day when potential customers expect them to be open.
