So very happy with my kitchen tile backsplash, remodel of guest shower and backyard Travertine (pool and landscaping is still not finished). Al and Fernando were very helpful with their suggestions. When ordering, it didn’t take long at all to come in and all the installation guys cleaned up after themselves. I’m picky, OCD and hard to please so trust me when I tell you, I was very happy! Never had a chance to use them so can’t speak to their work, but didn’t have a great initial experience with this company. This is the first time I’ve ever wrote a negative review for a company. I set up a day with their countertop guy to give me an estimate on a Saturday and he never showed or answered my text that day. He wouldn’t return follow up calls or text. Should have been the first sign. Finally I got him to show up and he said “it shouldn’t take long” to get me my estimate. To me that means a few days, but I don’t know. I should have asked for something more specific to narrow it down. If he said he’s busy and it might be a week or even longer, that would have been fine. Midway through the following week I sent him a email, and no response. Tried calling and left message, nothing. Tried texting, nothing. Tried calling the store multiple times, nothing. Was just told to call his cell. A week and half later I popped into store and he had nothing for me. All he said was that he’s been too busy and he passed me on to a co-worker who ended up being very nice. But at that point I pretty much made up my mind I was going to go elsewhere. I get he’s busy, but how hard is it to return a call or better yet, send a quick acknowledgment text that might take all of 20 seconds. We’re all busy, I get it. That’s not the issue. If he needed more time to get me an estimate, thats fine, just let me know. I would have been good with that. Just be professional. Anyway, I won’t be using this company.

We just had engineered hardwood floors put in, and it looks great! Josh, Project Manager is ACES!!! Mr. Tanner, you've got a good one here! Hold on to him! He was so communicative, took care of any issues very quickly, and was in contact with us through the whole process. His crew, Carlos, Carlos, and Isaiah were awesome as well. I chose Tanner Tile to redo my kitchen floor and I could not be happier! The attention to detail was flawless. Mine was not an easy application because not only did I choose large tiles, but the subfloor had to be built up and match up to an existing floor. I’ve had many friends go choose a weekend warrior or handyman because it was cheaper (& then afterwards seriously regret it because of the bad workmanship.)

Holy smokes! Al was the freaking best! I’ve never written any reviews in my life. We shopped around with multiple showrooms and shops and stopped looking once we found Al at tanner materials. He checked all the boxes for us: Integrity: didn’t try to upsell us on anything, made us feel like we’ve been working with him for years. We ran into some unexpected issues, but rather than continuing to work around the issue, they addressed it and were able to fix the problem before continuing. (Most contractors would’ve looked the other way and hid the problems because it messes up their schedule and it opens up opportunities to return and charge more money) Cost: very knowledgeable in different materials and made the best suggestions for us to save where we could. (His show room has a ton of variety) Design: we gave him ideas of what we wanted and he helped us put a beautiful remodel together. (You can be the judge, look at the photos) Efficiency: I work about 65-70 hours weekly and my schedule is constantly changing but Al was able to make adjustments and compromise even when I made last minute changes. His team was in and out as he scheduled. Experience: no job is perfect, but Al’s knowledge is superior and is displayed when we ran into any issues. During remodel, some unexpected events surfaced. Al knew exactly what to do when I reached out to him and eliminated the problems. Quality: look at the photos!

I can’t say enough about Tanner Materials! Al and Brooke were amazing in helping me select flooring, baseboards, carpet, countertops and stone for the wall. I wanted to get away from the dark cabinets, countertops and flooring and they helped capture my vision perfectly. I couldn’t be more in love with my completely remodeled home! Their crews were all very nice and often times worked 6 days a week-and even well into many evenings to get it done! This place had tones of options! I just wish it was better organized. We were trying to find several of the same tiles but in different colors and we had to look in a few different places. But other then that this place has tones of choices. From backsplashes to carpet tile laminate to counter tops and pavers. Enjoy!

This place was recommended by our landscape contractor to pick out tile for our outdoor patio fireplace being built. They have so much to choose from it overwhelming. I wanted a mosaic tile and they had over 30 to choose from! In addition to the huge selection of tile, they have travertine, quartz, wood, and cabinets. Definitely way more selection than I've seen anywhere else. I can't recall the name of the lady that helped us, but she was super helpful and very sweet. I will definitely be back when we have to pick out materials for our backyard.

Al and his team replaced the old, gross carpet in our house with new vinyl. They were able to get in within a few days and had the entire job done in 2 days. The new flooring is beautiful and it looks like it was there all along- the new floor flows seamlessly with the old one and they did a great job installing the flooring under the baseboards. It has completely transformed the house. Al's communication is very good and they are very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

AMAZING! We had such a great experience with Tanner - the entire crew from Harold to the installers, to the glass guy! What a great bunch of people to work with! They helped us with the entire process from picking out tile, quartz, replacing sinks, light fixtures, etc. We had a complete remodel of our master bathroom and bedroom - everything was replaced except for the cabinets and Tanner made it happen in less than 4 weeks. Can't wait to start on the next phase and replace flooring in the rest of the house!

We had Tanner Materials lay tile in our house out in the West Valley. We worked with Victor who was very knowledgeable about the products and the installation, and just a genuinely nice person to work with. Very conscientious very energetic and really wants to make the customer happy. They laid about 1700 ft.² of porcelain tile and it looks absolutely awesome. The first thing they had to do was clean the floor, patch some cracks and then level everything. The final product as I said is genuinely awesome. Our compliments to Victor for a job well done.

This is our 2nd tile job with Tanner Materials, and once again it's been a great experience from start to finish. Helpful advice on tile selection while we were shopping around, and courteous assistance in setting up for the install. Fernando was able to pull in the installation date and kept me informed via phone / text. They showed up right on time and were careful to lay out floor protection between the job site and entry door to keep everything clean. Removed old carpet and installed new tile in a very large closet on the 1st day; next day was grouting and cleanup. Francisco was punctual, hard working and meticulous in his work. I'm quiet surprised to read many negative reviews. A friend referred me to Tanners. My friend and her niece have shopped here and had positive experiences working with them during their home renovations. I've been here three times the last couple weeks as I'm working on a reno and deciding on material. Every visit the staff has been nothing but nice and helpful. When I visited the 2nd time, my husband and I were surprised to be greeted by a staff member in the parking lot asking if we needed help bringing in our samples. Later that visit, we just so happened to be receiving help from the owner. Al was very helpful with suggestions and was straightforward with his recommendations. He really took his time helping us. I found a few unique pieces here that I'm really excited to put in my new home. Oh, they can do half slabs with some of the quartz and granites which will save me money (I'm so happy)!!! I was going to get quartz and granite from another business but now I'd rather get all of that from here.

Tanner Materials has done various jobs for me over the years from tile, wood plank and carpet to cabinets/knobs. Every job has been done on time and well. I noticed other reviewers mentioned the wrong material being installed numerous times - I tend to review my material before it is installed and pay attention to the work being done so I have never encountered this in dealing with Tanner, but I suggest that of any homeowner do that no matter what company you may use. Tanner's selection is great and the prices are competitive. All of the materials they have installed for me have been quality and have lasted the test of time. I will not hesitate to use Tanner again in the future!

We decided to go with Tanner because their pricing to remove our 23 year old tile in the kitchen/family room and fireplace and replace it with new tile was so much less than other quotes. Our neighbors had used Tanner and we were able to see the quality installation. Ricardo and Tito spent a week on the job and produced an installation that was absolutely beautiful. They covered a big crack with a membrane and the new tile was flawlessly installed. These guys really cared about doing a quality installation and it shows. I get a thrill every time I look at what they created.

I had a travertine patio installed in one day, after the great work I had them come back and tear out my granite kitchen and backsplash, re install new granite and back splash, this took two days. Just had our backyard done over in pavers and 2 bedrooms plus entry way tiled. Awesome job from start to finish, Harold definitely delivered - on time and on budget. The crews were on the job when promised and the work site was cleaned up every day. Servando's team did some difficult paver transitions that look great. The cover up of the old cool deck is impressive. Jose and Julio did an amazing job on the interior tile. Really excellent craftsmanship. We were worried about the mess and disruption of 2 major projects running at the same time, but Harold and his team pulled it off perfectly.

I found out about this place from the great work my in-laws got done by the people at Tanner. It inspired my wife, and I to investigate the Tanner store in Chandler. We found the best deal I had ever seen on a Versailles pattern tile set. We had been looking for over a year, but everything we found was way over budget. Because Tanner had such a good deal, we had our whole house done. What a painful project after living in the same house for 20 years, but now that it's over we love our new flooring. It's now time to go back to Tanner, and get the Granite Countertops done now. I would recommend these people to anyone looking for new flooring, or countertops.

We purchased granite for our kitchen, marble for the bathrooms and new cabinets for all areas. The cabinets are superior quality with dove tail drawers, soft shut drawers AND doors and solid wood construction with full extension drawers! The pull out drawers are also solid wood and full extension. The hidden hinges give a smooth look and show off the high quality of these cabinets. The new kitchen and bathrooms are absolutely beautiful. Fantastic value for what you get!! Tanner was timely with our order and even measured for the granite as soon as the lower cabinets were installed. We have done many remodels and these products are the best we have ever used. We really appreciate the seamless granite even on the large kitchen section. Superior craftsmanship! They have earned our business for many years to come.

I came into the store needing advice on how to remove grout stains from fresh tile work and seal the grout as well. We had this project done by an independent contractor not associated with Tanner. Al was quick to answer all of my questions despite the fact we didn't buy our tile from their store. Al explained exactly how to remove the grout stains, apply the sealer, and recommended his go to products. I tested it out at home, and sure enough, Al was right! Great customer service in an industry that seems to have quotes and "advice" all over the board. Thank you for giving me what I needed Al! We will use your company for our future bathroom project!

Additionally, giving me an excellent price as well. If there were ever any issues that came up, as happens in construction, he has always resolved them to mutual satisfaction. From the beginning working with them was really good. Hubby felt great about going with them to lay our laminate flooring. They were courteous, attentive and answered all our questions. The day they completed the job, they didn't clean up any of the residue etc left on the laminate flooring, and stated they would be back to lay down one transition because they ran out of material. Upon move in we realized the transitions in various areas were not flush with the floor, areas in a room sound hollow while another was solid, floors squeak and creak in every room! We reported this to them and that they had not come back to finish the missing transition. When they finally came out, the crews team lead claimed that the transition is fine (even though one side is flush while the other has an opening which you can stick something into). Then they claimed there was nothing wrong with the floor and the sounds I hear are normal! I asked if he leveled the floor and he responded all they do is grind the floor down to level it....well, even if that was done why are there uneven sounds depending on where I walk? Then he literally rocked back and forth quite a few times on the worst creaking spot...it was making noise and the laminate moving up and down while he was doing it and he had the nerve to look at me and say there was nothing wrong! My husband called the office numerous times to get this flooring fixed and they would not bother returning the call!!!! Wasted money and time...truly wish we went with a more reputable company that guarantees and stands by their work!

2 Stars because the quartzite countertop installation is beautiful. Took away 3 stars because they installed the undermount sink without the clips. How am I ever going to replace the sink without destroying the countertop now??? The clips were in a small box that was with all the accessories and they unpacked it in the living room. they had the instructions and I was home. No communication from installers. These countertops were not cheap.

We chose Tanner because it's convenient location in downtown Chandler and they have a wide range of materials to look through. Pricing is ok and occasionally you can get a good deal depending on order size. Customer service is really poor, like really really poor. They'd all rather stand behind the desk and talk to sales people, friends visiting the store to sell them knock-off AirPods, etc instead of actually help customers with sales orders. These are just what I experienced on multiple visits. We recently remodeled 2 bathroom and a pantry and needed to order more tile. They said they could get it order and would contact us when it arrived. They NEVER contact you and after a week I finally drove up to their location. They ordered the wrong tile and promptly blamed someone else when I told them exactly which tile to reorder and had them pull the numbers straight off our previous invoice in their system. So I waited another week for the "fix" and still no contact. Instead of continuing to deal with Tanner's poor customer service I found competitor that could order my tile and took our business to them.

We recently purchased a home that had work done by them previously. We wanted to match the tile in an additional area to what was already there. The sales rep we worked with, Bryce, was an absolute nightmare. He took forever to follow up, talked down to me, and forgot to charge it credit card until weeks after the job was done. He made one call to me and then sent an email saying, "I've been trying to call you. I have been unsuccessful in reaching you and wanted to let you know that I can your card for the full amount." So rude to talk to me like I'm the problem when he just left my info somewhere on his desk. The only reason they're getting 2 stars is because the actual installers did a good job. They were nice and worked really hard to get it done before we moved in.

Customer service sucks . I have 3 people come tell me that they left haze & spots on tile . 1from tile maker ,1 from theirs store & on e from a tile cleaning co they recommend . Al rudely said there are no spots & has never been out to see them . He has no customer service skills , yells , talks behind my back . when I can hear him. Unfortunately if you write a bad review & it says contact for help the very person that handles problems is Al the one I complaining about . You get nowhere . Stay away !! I did see bad reviews about him & should have listened . I even told him I would give him a chance . Should have never worked with Him !!

Tanner MATERIALS sells a variety of MATERIALS for a competitive price. We came to them, however, for their General Contracting services. They were supposed to be our one-stop, turnkey remodel solution; they turned out to be a nightmare. Our tile installer is an artist/maestro/expert who produced two spectacular showers. He was the only good aspect when dealing with Tanner. Harold is an unprofessional, angry GC. He is incompetent, disorganized, uncommunicative, clueless regarding the work, timing, and the subs, and when questioned, becomes angry, combative, and retaliatory--in person, in your own home, and over the phone. His plumber, Fernando, was a smartass with a bad attitude who left an absolute mess in our bathroom. We were told before the project started that all subs would cover our floors, and they did not - not really and not always. During Fernando's first visit we asked him to protect the tub and he ignored us, leaving an absolute greasy, dirty mess behind. He then installed our shower valve without strapping it to the framing. During his second visit, he complained that we had asked Harold that he protect the tub because he had ignored our request the first time. He then installed our shower wand off-center and misaligned the tub spout - possibly in retaliation? He also abandoned our job for 2 hours to help a friend (I heard him coordinate this on his phone), taking one of our plumbing fixtures with him. He gave us several different explanations for this: not having the proper equipment, his MIA plumbing partner, needing to leave to go and look for/buy the necessary equipment, etc. It appears that his 2-3 different stories didn't match the 2-3 stories that he gave to Tanner when asked why he disappeared, because when I addressed his job abandonment with Harold, Harold yelled at me and said that the entire situation was MY fault. Harold said that this plumber was very good and had worked with him for years, all the while staring directly at the misaligned fixtures. At this point we realized the unacceptable level of Tanner's workmanship and work ethic standards. Here on Yelp you can read my review of Tanner's countertop sub, Eclat (Francisco) who, per Harold, is Tanner's "only" stone subcontractor. They cut the holes for my sinks in the front yard of my house without using a template and left so many scratches in the marble that you would think that they had damaged the stone on purpose. The three different sinks were all badly measured and cut and were absolutely ruined. When Harold came to inspect the damage, he looked directly at the misaligned sink cutouts, the misaligned cuts on the counters and backsplashes, and the deep scratches everywhere, and said, "I can't say all these are bad or good." No accountability, once again confirming Tanner's standards re: workmanship and customer service standards. He offered to leave these absolute crap sinks in place for no charge . . . um, no, thanks! We instructed him to have Eclat remove everything and vacate the premises. At this point, we didn't want to continue dealing with Tanner and cancelled the shower glass sub (who was more expensive than the glass company we found later). We had already spoken with Al, the owner (who, by the way, did more in a 20 minute phone call than Harold did in 20 days), and this further enraged Harold. He came to our house complaining that we were making him work on his day off, inspected the crap that his subs had left behind, and said that he would speak with Al to reduce what we owed Tanner, and walk away. Two months later, we finished the job ourselves with our own (and very professional) subs, who are incredible business owners and who felt proud and happy to come to our house, take digital/laser measurements, and provide flawless services and communication. I was a general contractor for 9 years and NEVER had a job go this badly. I most certainly NEVER spoke to a homeowner the way Harold spoke to me and my wife. Please be forewarned: the 1-star reviews here on Yelp are not just snotty people venting - they are 100% legit. Tanner will leave you in the lurch with unfinished/damaged jobs. They use and support unskilled subcontractors as opposed to supporting you, their paying client. Please avoid them; there are plenty of other reliable and professional companies in the Phoenix area who will give you top-notch service for a reasonable price.

Absolutely do not recommend this business. The owner says his name is Al spoke with him earlier in the morning and a big customer spending lots of money there he can't remember the conversation then he use vulgarity towards me on the phone. The F word multiple times he hung up on me. He called me back and use vulgarity and text messages. He's a terrible terrible terrible person. Stay away from this guy. Avoid this business at all cost Trust me there's a lot of people out there who want to take your money happily this company is not one of them Proof that I tried to help, and you kept on raging that you called phoenix and got chandler. I tried to work with you and explain the issue and you couldn't expect that the phoenix store is who your dealing. Yes you became a complete a#$ so yes I told you where to go. My husband and I went to order materials to install a new backsplash and our first experience was that no one wanted to help. They told us "they had backsplashes all over the store" they just sat at the front talking with one another and were annoyed when we asked any questions. We picked out the backsplash we wanted and we ordered it and put a $900 deposit down. They said they would call with an installation date. A whole week went by and we didn't hear anything so we called them and asked when they were coming to install it and they had NO record of our order. They were incredibly rude and acted like we were crazy. We sent them photos of our receipt and purchase paper and they said they "needed to get their ducks in a row" and call us back. When they called back they said they had the order (the clearly didn't) and they would have to reach out next week with a better idea of when the materials would be in (probably because they hadn't even ordered them). Needless to say we got our money back and went to Floor and Decor. Sad because we used Tanner Materials years ago and had a good experience. Now it seems their customer service has gone way downhill.

Our home looked great when complete until we started inspecting the quality of the tile work done in the master bathroom. Harold agreed to come fix it but it was just a bandaid as he used a color seal and it all faded away after a year. After a year Harold ignored all my calls. Had to call the ROC and file a complaint and during inspection Harold agreed to come and take care of the issue as a "resolution" in front of the ROC inspector. Then a week later Harold went MIA and said the ROC advised him not to do any work in our home for a year! Total lie. I spoke with the lead investigator at the ROC Joseph Shikany who is the chief of criminal investigations and he verified that they would never have said this. Harold still has never gotten back to me. Stay far away from this company!
