We finally have our kitchen finished! Anyone who did any renovation projects knows how stressful it can be. For me the biggest worry was picking the right things and them looking as good as I imagined. We did pick the best looking Tajmahal quartzite but installation was something else. Human error occurs and our first piece over the kitchen sink broke in half:/ Adam was super sweet and said it would be no problem cutting another piece without compromising the layout of other pieces. But that was not the case. Every piece installed after that was not what it was planned. To this day, I can not comprehend how cutting stone can be so carelessly done. The level on incompetency to deliver what we were promised was truly disappointing. It saddens me to think that those beautiful slabs of stone that we took so long to find, were chopped up in such careless manner without our approval or supervision and with so little compunction. We had no choice but to take what was done but it I was left feeling frustrated and disheartened.

I have worked with Manthy from Stone City for the last 15 years. Her experience in design is unparalleled. We've done 2 full custom kitchen remodels, from custom cabinets to beautiful Macaubas quartzite. We've also done design on the exterior design of my homes, as well as a dozen of bathrooms. She's even helped design my black marble wet bar. I can't thank the relationship with the Stone City Group for their work and their beautiful stone supply.

A special thanks, and hats off to Kristen, sales rep., who has been extremely helpful in my design journey. She helped me make selections of tile for my bedroom wall and livingroom floor. Kristen kept me abreast of when my orders would arrive and on my request, also looked for additional tile as needed. The patience that she exhibited and return calls is what everyyone in the redesigning of their home should be abreast too. Thanku, Stone City employers for having such a dedicated and conscientious worker.

I have just had the most terrible experience with Stone City. Without sharing a dissertation here, customer service was HORENDOUS, delivery took forever, when it did arrive the 2 pieces didn't match and they told me that's normal and the back and side splash were the wrong size. Finally the agreed to replace the top, more issues, terrible customer service, delays, the second one arrived and I'm not super happy with the installation of it but I just want to be done and cant waste more time. I do not recommend using Stone City!!

Lizette was dismissive of me.. A designer.. while in design conference ( NEOCON) I called, emailed, and left several messages with your receptionist… She never return my calls, emails nor messages.. we had a counter top delivered.. SO VERY ILL FITTING ( 2800.00 Quartz- without fixtures) .. IT HAS BEEN A WEEK.. and still no response. I have posted MY DISAPPOINTMENT on ALL DESIGN PAGES , social media and the merchandise mart.. it will remain up until this is resolved..

Stone City is amazing. Just had quartzite countertops installed in my new kitchen and they are perfect. The customer service is 10/10, the product is 10/10, and the installation is 10/10, and you will be pleasantly surprised by their reasonable prices. I searched all across the Chicagoland area for the perfect stone and Stone City delivered. I would 100% endorse Stone City for your countertop needs.

We were remodeling our home and had zero experience in doing this. Our friends and neighbors have used Stone City so we went to check out counters for kitchen, mudroom (over the washer/dryer workspace) bathroom and bar. We also purchased our floor tile for the mudroom and bathroom there. Their selection blew us away. After discussing what our home looked like and showing her pictures of it and inspiration pictures of what we hoped the remodeled spaces would be, our saleswoman asked to see our cabinet samples and in no time she navigated us through their huge warehouse to show us what she thought would compliment them. Then we went upstairs with those in mind and selected the tile. The counters are beyond what we hoped for and I never thought we'd have something so beautiful in our home. The team of installers, led by Jose, were professional, courteous and answered all my questions. Two of the counters being replaced by them were going on built-ins we already had and they made sure to install without harming those in any way. I'd also like to note that our saleswoman, Jacqueline, answered all my emails and would call me back to update me on delivery and info on the products. So refreshing to have someone so attentive. We heard about many large projects their company works on and they made us feel like our home was their number one priority. I'm still pinching myself that it all came together so smoothly and was such a positive experience.

I love this place. There selection is amazing and we were able to find exactly what we were looking for with the help of Lizette. Lizette was super helpful and took the time to explain which piece of stone would work with our project. We tried to find a piece of tile from other places but it wasn't quite right because we needed a piece of tile big enough to cover the whole area of the window stool/sill and that's when we realized we needed a piece of stone cut. We wanted 5 pieces of Quartz cut to put on our window stool/sills, that our dogs have destroyed with their nails. We don't mind that our dogs protect our house by barking out the window but we needed to find a more permanent way to protect the wood of the window stool/sill from their giant claws. My husband though a stone finish would look nice and then we wouldn't have to paint or repair the wood anymore. He was so right and now it is perfect and looks beautiful. I thought my project was going to be too small for anyone to help me but I think the guys who delivered and installed the stone sills thought it was cool. They took a bunch of picture once they put the stone in. All I had to do was take the measurements and they did the rest. We ordered our stone on 3-27-18 and in a week a guy came out to measure himself, thank goodness because even though my measurements were close I'm glad they sent out the professional. Then a few weeks later 2 guys came to our house and installed the stone. One of the stones looked like it wasn't going to fit but the guy took it outside, took a grinding tool to it and then when he brought it back in, it fit perfectly.

I have recently completed 3 bathrooms and used Stone City for countertops. I first heard of Stone City from a builder friend when I was looking for a remnant piece of Calcutta marble for my powder room. I met with Lizette who took me through the outdoor area and within minutes we found the perfect piece. Jose came out to my condo to measure and install the remnant that was flawlessly fabricated at Stone City. Everything was done professionally and with genuine care from sales with Lizette to Jose with installation. They did such a great job that we completed two other bathrooms with them. I would without hesitation use them again.

I used Stone City to install a new kitchen countertop as I was in the process of renovating our kitchen. They installed one piece for our kitchen (one straight rectangular piece). Good pricing, responsive and timely with their installation- overall very professional and satisfied with the result. Four months later I then decide to change my kitchen design and add new appliances with a cooktop range. This would mean I would need to cut a portion of the previously installed countertop and add on to it so that it formed an "L" shape. Bought the extra material, they came to install (which was incredibly labor intensive) and at the end we find that the color of the new piece is ever-so-slightly off. I explained my situation to Lizette the next day. Without hesitation she said they would fix it, free of charge. She color matched the old stone, sent me a piece so I could make sure it was an exact match, and then within a week they scheduled the reinstallation. I now have a nearly seamless beautiful countertop and my kitchen looks amazing. Very pleased with the quality of the stone, the customer service in the office and the wonderful men that came out three times to complete this difficult project. I would definitely recommend stone city to anyone who is looking to do a small or large scale project.

I went to Stone City in hopes of finding an easy low cost way to replace a small island at our condo prior to putting it on the market. Abigail offered incredible service! Found a granite remnant the right size and color, had someone out the next day to measure. and within 10 days we had new counter after they whisked away the old! I certainly recommend Stone city, especially Abigail, and look forward to working with her on our house redo next spring.

I was worried because of all the reviews, however I took the risk because of the excellent quote (almost $1000 less than their competitors). The showroom was spectacular, my sales rep Abigal was a tremendous help, and the schedulers were precise. My granite was cut and installed in about two weeks. No cracks, no chip, and matches our cabinets perfectly. I had modest expectations, however I can say without a doubt they were exceeded.

My wife and I had a great experience there. After deciding to remodel our kitchen, we wanted stone that was more unique, than what we typically see at other kitchen and bath showrooms, all which seemed to have similar selections. After searching around online we found Stone City, which we hadn't heard of. We went on a weekday right after work and the sales team helped us find a really great piece of stone for our island and a complementary color for our perimeter surround. They have 2 warehouses that our sales person walked us through with the slabs of stone on site. Our price was very close to what had looked at in other stores, for something much more unique than what we traditionally see. They even called us with an earlier than scheduled installation date when the had an extra opening in our area. We would definitely go back

I couldn't be happier with the service and selection that Stone city offered us. The marble we chose was incredible and because of some imperfections our salesperson, Liv, worked around them to give us exactly what we wanted. She really went above and beyond including moving our installation up to accommodate the rest of the work schedule. That place is awesome with the very best selection in Chicago and believe me my wife and I looked everywhere. The installation went flawlessly and the workmen cleaned up after themselves (there's a change). I really appreciated this after so many poor experiences with the other subcontractors.

I am surprised to read reviews from other customers that are so negative. My experience with Stone City was flawless with the exception of having to work with four salespersons to complete my file...three left the company over the four months it took from selecting a slab and backsplash to final installation. Ricardo did the measurements and headed up the installation. Brilliant on both counts. The fabricators were able to accommodate all my square footage counter and backsplash needs from one slab when all other estimates for my needs would require two slabs. As a result I saved thousands of dollars at Stone City. I am completely satisfied as well as thrilled with the experience and resultant product from Stone City. I would return for future needs in a heartbeat. Tom

So I am a return customer to Stone City and I had another great experience. I just re-modeled my bathroom and purchased tile for the floor and shower and new bathroom countertop. The salesperson was different than the one I had when I got my kitchen done, but she was very helpful and everything looks great! The installation went smoothly, they were done with all the tile in 1 day and they measured for y counter the day after my cabinets were installed. The installers were super nice! All in all, it was a very fast and hassle free process, the price was very reasonable and my bathroom looks great! Thanks Stone City

I was a little concerned about picking about marble from Stone City given all of the bad reviews, but they had hours that fit my schedule, so I gave them a shot. Abigail was awesome. We picked out some marble pieces for a shower, so even though our job was not huge, Abigail still gave us a ton of attention and was great with the follow up. I was referred to Stone City by my realtor. I went to the place to look at the granite for my kitchen counter top. The selection was great and the stuff was friendly and helpful. So i got my estimates, and then i read the Yelp reviews which turned me away first. I called a few other places and got their quotes which were at least $1000 more the Stone City quote (I don't know why it was such a huge difference, but i looked at the similar materials). Anyways, i had to go back to Stone City and keep my fingers crossed. And nothing that people wrote in their reviews happened to me! They responded my emails and calls right away. Brittany and Edina were the representatives who worked on my project. Withing LESS THAN A WEEK from signing contract, they did final measurements, cut my counter top and installed it! The installation process took about 2 hours. I was amazed how fast and easy the whole process was. And I am supper happy with results and the money i spent.

I am both shocked and sorry to read the bad reviews below. We also fell victim to the employee who was not up to scratch, installing a poorly measured granite slab in June. This company seems to have done radical things with their staffing crew to ensure that customers get the help they need and end up happy with their finished installation. In other words, people were apparently fired for not doing their job. On a more positive note, our kitchen was completely re-done very quickly, of course at no extra cost. Our sales consultant was Jen Stone and a man named Theo helped to coordinate all of our installation requirements and the replacement granite specifications. Both staff were exceptional, reliable, honest and patient. We also had a small bathroom project done last year and I didn't like the colour once installed(my fault entirely.) I opted to re-do the project and Stone City gave me a nice discount. I would highly recommend Jen Stone as a competent professional and Theo as technically astute in what he does. Love that their showroom is family-friendly. Our pre-school twins enjoyed their complimentary enclosed / gated play-area. Will certainly use this company for future granite/ marble project

What can I say? This is our third kitchen that we have done with granite and we were close to going with the guys who did our first two kitchens. They came in with a quote that was a little high. It was our fault, we fell in love with an exotic piece of granite called Delicatus and sourcing exotic granite in Chicago kind of limits your options. Well, we saw the ad for Stone City's sale of $26 per square foot and decided to stop on our way out to the new house. We might as well see what they have to offer on a Saturday morning. Cassandra was helpful, had great follow up and overall the process was as close to boutique as a granite purchase can get while paying the same price you would get by going over to Home Depot. Compare prices, you'd be surprised. I was. We were pleasantly surprised- and decided to go with the folks who did the granite at Water Tower place for the same price as our past crew. They installed it on Saturday and our contractors were gawking, "Is that stuff man made or what?" It's that gorgeous and I am not a chick. I think the food will even taste better when it's eaten off of an exotic slab of granite from Brazil. Anyway, give 'em a shot. At the very least the showroom is worth taking a walk through. You can steal some ideas and they offer free coffee so there you have it.

Definitely recomment the installation and value for this business.

Thankfully I was pointed in the right direction with the accommodating and knowledgeable staff. My salesperson helped me narrow down the perfect complementing color for my cabinets. I was given samples and time to have my cabinets installed to see everything together, I even picked the slab which was going to be used. The process went so smoothly that I returned to have them help me choose a complimenting mosaic for my backsplash. My place looks great and the process was enjoyable. I recommend this place.

I was looking for granite for kitchen countertops, and there is a good, almost overwhelming, selection of stone to choose from. The salesperson was very helpful and took me through their warehouse, pointing out a number of slabs which might fit my color and pattern preferences. I ended up with counters that I think fit the kitchen perfectly and fell within my price range. For measurement of the cabinets and installation of the counters, they came when they said they were going to, were efficient, friendly, and did a good job. They are arguably the best people I've worked with over the course of this kitchen renovation so far.

I very much enjoyed my trip to Stone City in search of granite counter tops. I had not planned on finding more than this here but I did. The sales associate was extremely helpful and by only showing her some rough sketches of the new layout of our bathroom she helped me pick out exactly what fit together for the theme of the room, she totally got my vision and even gave me some hints of paint colors that would accent the new counter top. We purchased a beautiful grey/blue counter top along with cabinets and hardware to go with it. The showroom was so beautiful that if was enjoyable just to wonder around. I highly recommend Stone City for more than just its beautiful selection of stone but its up to date hardware and cabinetry.

This is a great store that's pretty massive in size and variety. They specialize in natural stones (granite/marble/etc slabs and tile), but they also have just about everything you could need for picking finishes in a remodeling/new construction project. They have a big showroom where you can get ideas and there are lots of people to talk to for help and ideas. But it's also the kind of place where you can walk in, tell them you're just browsing, and they won't bug you at all if you don't want to be. They have a big appliance selection, and a lot of upscale appliances you won't find at Home Depot, etc. When I've been there they've also had a scratch/dent type thing (though there didn't seem to be any real deals, I suppose you could bargain on that though?). I think they have a cabinet showroom of sorts too. Their walk-through granite/marble slab yard is a fun experience (indoors, but bring a coat if it's not warm out). There are a lot of unique looking granites, marble, and other natural stone that go beyond the standard salt and pepper looking granite slabs used by many developers... Stuff you won't even see anywhere else. We walked through and picked out our kitchen countertops here, and love them. They also have a pretty large tile selection of any type you could imagine. I've only been on the weekends when it was packed with people, but it still didn't feel overly crowded (the store is several floors).

I bought my countertops here and honestly had a pretty good experience overall. I was uncertain what I wanted and the sales associate was helpful and guided me to the right direction with my budget and design in mind. I loved my choices and it really all worked out. Installation was a bit of a nightmare. The guys were later than they should have been. I live in a high rise and there are limits to what time things can be done in a unit. They were late. After 6 p.m. when they were supposed to be there by 4. They didn't start the install until 7 and were done by 8 p.m. This is MUCH later than what my association allows but I could not possibly wait another week for the slab to be installed. I needed my kitchen. They worked fast and were a little sloppy. I emailed photos to my sales associate. She sent out guys to fix up the problem in the next week. That said, the repair guys were super nice and even repaired some marble for free in an area that had nothing to do with my countertops. This was super kind and left me with a very good impression. Plus, my countertops look amazing.

I had kitchen counters put in by Stone City almost 5 years ago. I love them sooo much. The only problem I had with them at the time was that their fax machine was never working. For the most part though, the did what they said that they would do and my counters are beautiful.

My first experience entering this business wasn't the greatest. But it is clear that they are working hard on hiring new staff that will better represent their business. Tiffany is super helpful and has great customer service. Within a day she followed up with me about the piece I was interested in. She even texted me photos so that I wouldn't have to come back in unless I chose to. She knows how to communicate and meet the needs of the customer. If every sales person there met this standard they could have many more positive reviews and grow their business.

My salesperson, Breanna, was very helpful and communicated well and consistently throughout the whole project. My project was fairly small, ordering only countertops, but I felt that Breanna gave me the same time and attention of anyone doing a huge project. I'm really REALLY happy with the prices of my granite countertop and installation was done when promised. It was worth the drive to Humboldt Park from the Western burbs.

I did not have the multiple issues that folks seemed to have below. My sales person, Jamie, was helpful and always returned calls. She spent plenty of time with me. Our order was slightly delayed due to a break in fabrication, but it only held us back 2 days. They were on time with delivery. Installation was a bit of a production and they irritated my contractor a bit, which is why I downgraded them slightly. All in all, I had a reasonably satisfactory experience.

I went to Stone city in 2010 to locate a granite countertop for my kitchen. I met with Bianca who walked us thru a maze of stone and showed us the slabs that she thought would be of interest to us. I found a great slab. they cut the slab within the week we put our down payment. We needed to purchase a sink however we had the wrong size. Bianca assisted us and pointed us to a great sink that fit. We were very happy with the service and the look of the granite. We returned this month and worked with Bianca again who helped us select a quartz slab for a fireplace mantel. I am waiting for the install however so far I have been happy with Bianca's assistance. I will return again for other projects as the price is right and the choices are endless.

Stone City has hundred of choices, well established company. There're many granite stores or online that you can check out. But never never buy from www.paylessforgranite.com (different from www.payless4granite.com). it offer $24/sqft, 1 1/4inch thickness. I paid $1500 for cracked countertopsfrom www.paylessforgranite.com . I am so regret did not check it carefully before paying off.

I bought granite tile from Stone City. When it was delivered, it was somewhat different from what I saw in the store. I know stone can differ, but this difference was more than you would expect and seemed like it was just a different stone. I liked it, though, and it looks good now that it's been installed. Be aware that Stone City does not accept any returns of tile. Their written information is confusing on this point and I expect that whether they take returns or not has to do with whether you're an important customer. I'm just a homeowner, so if my theory is right, not important to them. Now I'm stuck with three extra cartons of tile. Based on these two issues, I would not shop here again.

UPDATE: We finally were able to get a response from them. We wanted them to replace the miscut piece and to bring our remnant slab (we will use that later in our basement). We were told they would drop off the remnant when they came to replace the miscut piece. We had our contractor at the house the day of the re-installation. When I got home, the new piece looked great. Well-proportioned. Straight edges. Just what you want in a countertop. But where was the remnant? Garage? No. Basement? No. Anywhere to be seen? No. I contacted Abigail, who said they don't deliver remnant pieces with installation. But wait, didn't you tell me earlier that you would (re-reads previous paragraph). Yes you did. That's frustrating. We scheduled a date to deliver the remnant, and eventually they got that piece to us. The gentlemen who moved the piece were excellent and caring with the piece. So that was nice. The best summary of my experience would be a excellent salesperson was tasked with coordinating the delivery and installation and she had never done that before so didn't know how the company worked. That's speculation, but that was the feeling I got from my end. In all, the quality and cost was good, but the process was atrocious.

Beautiful product, but the experience I had walking in and calling was less than stellar. I was lucky to interact with Laney the day I came by to look at the slabs. Unfortunately, I didn't have my cabinets installed yet, so she could only give me a rough quote. The day I called back to set up an appointment, Laney was off and the woman answering the phones wasn't interested in my business.

If you're looking for the cheapest stone countertops, this is your place. If you would like your countertops made and installed properly by courteous professionals, go somewhere, I mean anywhere, else. Everyone was rude and incompetent. I had to explain to the people who came to measure our counters, how to measure. I also had to explain they could not move appliances to make them crooked as they would then have to be installed crooked. When they came to install the counters I had to insist they take the extra time to do so properly. Even then they failed to do certain basic things, like glue down a countertop.

I regret not looking these people up before allowing my contractor to direct me to them. There is no integrity to the way they do business and they actually charge you to fix their errors! DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID - DO NOTUSE THESE PEOPLE!

Just got some travertine tile here that was very reasonably priced compared to artistic tile - also appears to be the exact same tile. HOWEVER, they came out 3 weeks ago to measure for my ceasarstone and never even made a template for the largest piece. 3 pieces are done and I (my GC) is having a hell of a time getting them to come out to make the template for the island. Something they should have done 3 weeks ago. They said everything would be ready last week - yet have not even made template for Island/peninsula??? I am ready to move back in but this holding up everything. Jury is still out..... Jury in. Maybe OK to order just tile. BUT I would never order counters or vanities, nor have them fabricated here. The end result is fine but it took 4 WEEKS. Unacceptable. A friend had a similar issue - so this is not a one off.

The good: They had a nice selection of slabs to choose from and their installation work was well-done. The bad: Expensive labor costs if you have anything done other than the basic, prickly/unhelpful/unfriendly phone service, unnecessarily long delivery window, and they sent a guy to do (and tried to charge me for) plumbing work when I clearly indicated that all I wanted was installation of the undermount sink.

I could not be more disappointed in this process. Here is the laundry list of issues we had with them; 1. They came out 4 different times to do on-site measurements, and each time the renderings that we received had incorrect measurements. It took us over a week to get the right measurements. In the second to last drawing, the length of the counter just randomly had 5 extra inches added to it, the ONE number that had been accurate the whole time they changed for no reason. 2. They came out to install the counter, threshold, and bench, and the backsplash holes for the faucets were done incorrectly. Meaning the stone that I specifically taped out for the backsplash was ruined. They cut from the same piece of stone, but it was NOT what we agreed upon when we entered into the contract. 3. They re-cut the backsplash and came out to install it, seemed okay but they mentioned they were going to cut one faucet hole slightly bigger to make sure the fixture fit. They leave, our contractor tells us that they fixed ONE but not the other side. They had to come back again to fix the other side. The level of incompetence in this process has been truly astounding. They measured 4 different times and still got the numbers wrong, and ultimately cut the stone wrong after we finally got to the right numbers in our rendering. I cannot express how deeply unsatisfied and frustrated I am with this process. I wasted countless hours hand holding them through the most basic aspects of their jobs, for just fine results.
