Installation was pretty good, but some issues with attention to detail, and it can be difficult to reach them. The countertops turned out mostly as expected. We used 3cm quartz on the kitchen island to avoid needing an unsightly underlayment beneath the overhang. Though we expected the surface beneath the overhang to be unpolished, we didn't expect large black serial numbers on the white quartz. The company scheduled a service appointment to polish the numbers off, but they cancelled without notice. I was finally able to reach someone two hours after the appointment to find out it was cancelled. Update: They rescheduled for the next morning and polished the markings off.

I live in San Francisco and have been looking at many marble stores in the area to narrow down my selection for quartz countertops. I went to Marble City and found the vendor who carried the black quartz. From beginning to end, it took two and a half weeks to have the countertops installed. Everyone from the office administrators to the actual counter installers were easy to work with and very efficient. Of course, it did help that I knew what I wanted and was available when needed for site measurements and final installation. Pricing is very competitive and am pleased with the final price.

This the rare company that does really huge corporate projects, but also treats the smallest of walk-in customers with the same care and attention they reserve for their largest customers. And they really care about their community. On this particular occasion, I walked in with a ridiculously small and rather peculiar request in connection with an engineering demonstration I was developing for a university course I teach. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, helped me find the right rock remnant and finished everything on the spot - and then refused to charge me anything for their work. That is going way beyond the extra mile when it comes to civic-mindedness!

Marble City installed Caeserstone's Bianco Drift in my custom kitchen. I couldn't be happier with the whole process from consult and measure to installation. They were so accommodating with our tight schedule and extremely friendly and professional. No waiting for days for someone to get back to you with a quote or answer or scheduling date. They provided excellent communication on all aspects of this job. And their response time was incredibly fast. I can't recommend them highly enough for their professionalism and customer service.

I just had Marble City install quartz counter tops for my entire kitchen. We have a very modern house and the pictures posted on the yelp site are not indicative of their excellent craftsmanship. They were incredibly professional and well organized. All of our deadlines were met and they explained the process very clearly to me. This project was my first home renovation so I needed a lot of questions answered - they patiently obliged. Nicolette was fantastic and I highly recommend their services!!! I should also mention that Marble City was very competitive in their pricing - a huge plus in addition to their excellent service!

They did an excellent job in the measuring, cutting and installation of the quartz countertop. The Project Coordinator, Nicolette, was excellent to work with on the initial quote and options. She accommodated numerous schedule delays due to issues not related to the countertop itself. The installation crew was friendly and did a very nice job.

Fantastic customer service from Nicolette and Ben at Marble city. We had Marble City fabricate our granite kitchen countertop. The entire process went extremely smoothly, from the initial visit to the installation and follow up care. Everyone there was very response to all of my questions, and all issues were resolved promptly and professionally. The countertops look great, and people can't stop complimenting them! I will definitely be coming back to them when we redo our bathrooms in the future.

Great service from Marble City. We were in a rush to pick up our slab and get it install for our kitchen. They provided us with great quality of work and service. Nicolette was on top and very responsive. Ben did a great job with his crew and the quality of work was great. We will use them again for our next project.

All good - price, quality, customer service. Very happy with complex and stressful (for me) kitchen project. Here are details that may be relevant to what you're looking for: - I wanted an expensive man-made Italian composite countertop but owner Andrei talked me out of it for the kitchen counter application (too hard to clean) and I'm glad he did, appreciate his honesty in this, even though Marble City is the exclusive NorCal distributor for this product. - I then found a natural stone (limestone) slab I liked at Carmel Stone in Palo Alto, not carried by Marble City but they still gave me a good price on the fabrication and installation. - I wanted a fancy "chiselled" edge on the limestone, requires laminating an extra strip on the edge and hand-chiselling it so it looks like a very thick natural stone slab, will post photos when kitchen project complete, they did a BEAUTIFUL job at this, including some on-site chiselling touch ups that finished things off well in high visibility areas. - The templator was ultra-professional, spent a couple of intense hours with all the right specialized tools to make sure the slabs I bought were optimally utilized; in fact, because of this there was enough extra material to do 3 stone windowsills out of the slabs. A sloppy template would not have made this possible. - They made 2 extra trips back at no charge to fix tiny flaws I had detected that needed filling/sanding.

Needed a small piece of Ceasarstone for a bathroom vanity top. Went to Marble City so I only paid for what I used. It took only 2 days for measurement, fabrication and installation. Very professional team!

After years of thinking about replacing my kitchen countertops, I took the plunge. I did my research, asked friends for input, and checked out as many showrooms as I could handle. I thought I had finally made up my mind with one company but decided to check out yelp which is where I found Marble City. From Diana-great follow up with emails and checking in Jay-really great job on cutting my quartz and figuring out where to make the cut for the seams AND especially, the installer (Entschuldigung, because I can't recall his name right now) who took time to figure out a couple of options on how to install the "bar" piece-the section had a wooden post right in the middle of the section. However, he did come up with way that I was ok with. And so, after my contractor (yes, had him onsite in case there were issues) making some cuts to the post, the installer was able to slide the quartz piece in place. My kitchen looks so good! It took me longer to clear out my kitchen cabinets than the time for the installation work. All in all I am extremely happy with the outcome of my kitchen countertops.

Marble City exceeded our expectations in every way from the beginning of the relationship through the fabrication of the granite counter and installation. Every member of their talented staff was professional and the quality of their work is fantastic. Marble City is highly recommended for either commercial or residential jobs large or small. Thanks Diana and every member of the Marble City team for your attention to detail and for a beautiful counter that is the center of attention in our kitchen. Yes dear reader, it is as good as it gets and at a reasonable price! John Redwood City

I was looking for quartz for my bathroom tub area. Marble City has good prices and plenty of quartz options. Diana was very helpful. She clearly explained the options in terms of using 2 slabs versus 3, the costs and the placement of seams shown with computer generated drawings. She is professional, knowledgeable and very prompt with her quotes.

As a fabricator and a supplier of custom products myself for over 25 years, I deal with all sorts of vendors and I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of MC. From the initial quoting to the frank discussions we had about material yields, timing and various edge details, Diana was sharp and quick and always responsive. They use super accurate state of the art lasers for their patterns, and water jet cutting. The turnaround was super quick and their installation was fast and clean. Pricing was very competitive. Custom work can go wrong in so many ways , so easily. You really need to take note when a smooth running operation is available. We did 2 slabs worth of Caesarstone counters, 4 different tops and the fit was dead on. The place looks immaculate & these guys rock!

We went to Marble City after looking around at many places. They had the best prices and very good customer service. The person we dealt with, Diana, was always responsive to our questions and concerns. We ended up choosing a beautiful, gray countertop. Installation was second to none and the guys who did it were really nice and had good suggestions for trouble shooting a couple times during the process. After the work was done there were some small problems we encountered and they came back out to fix it each time (3 times) with no hassle. I highly recommend Marble City.

We wanted quartz contertops for our new kitchen and were attracted to Marble City by their fantastic web site. They e-mailed me an estimate in one day. I visited the show room and found that they had more samples and better displays than anyplace else I checked. The salesman I dealt with - Scott - was terrific. In the end, we decided to get the countertop from the same company that provided our cabinets because we were running out of time and that just worked better for us. But if I'd been better organized, I would have loved to get them from Marble City.

As an interior designer, I would highly recommend Marble City. My mother (my most important client) asked me to help update her kitchen and I took a chance on Marble City after having trouble communicating with other fabricators in the area. Scott was able to give me a quote the same day. Ben came in a couple weeks later to take measurements and went over some edge details and issues we could run into. He took his time answering our questions. Their talented staff (Boris) perfectly cut the curves in the counter for the designer sinks we chose. Due to the size of the island, there was a seam which was beautifully dealt with by the guys on staff. We ran into a few problems on my end with minor things my contractor forgot. The guys were patient while we fixed them and we couldn't be happier. I would use them again. And would recommend them to anyone who asked. ** Also, I have seen some reviews below about problems with moving appliances, etc. That should usually be done by you or your contractor, not your fabricator. You want the guys who are putting the countertops in to focus only on that.

We are so grateful to Jay, Vladimir and the Marble City team for making our kitchen and bathrooms look so lovely. They were so kind, patient and helpful. They really want to make sure that you're happy with everything and keep you up to date with how your order is progressing. We were a couple of days away from installation and we had one last minute quick change ... no problem. They took such care with the installation as well. Absolutely fantastic group. We have one more bathroom to do and will be visiting them again soon. We highly recommend Marble City for your remodeling needs. You will be delighted.

We recently completed a major home renovation. After talking to many natural stone sellers and fabricators we were so thankful to finally find Jay and the Marble City team. They helped us find the exact stone and finish we wanted. They made great recommendations, were very knowledgeable, were less expensive and right on schedule. From selection, to fabrication, to installation and finish - it was a great experience throughout. We highly recommend them.

My wife and I are very happy with the quality of the work Marble City preformed, we highly recommend them, I'll post pictures once the kitchen is complete, I've included an email I sent them which pretty much sums it up. Copy of email: Hello Jay, Vladimir, Andrei and the entire Marble City Team, I wanted to drop you guys a note to say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH", the Granite looks better than I was expecting and I had very high expectations. From my very first conversation with Jay to when the Installers where leaving, Marble City has shown the utmost in professionalism, Vladimir's teams attention to detail was unbelievable with an end result that is truly a work of art. Rest assured that I will promote Marble City to friends and associates at every opportunity, I will send photos of the completed kitchen once the tile and appliances are installed. Feel free to use this letter and future pictures as a testimonial to Marble City's professionalism and outstanding craftsmanship. I didn't have everyones email address's so please share this note with everyone at Marble City that was a part of this project Thanks Again, Gary

Thanks a million to Jay and the team at Marble City; I highly recommend them! They did the granite counter tops for my sister's kitchen and my kitchen too. I had my eye on a particular granite (make sure you grab the 24"x36" kitchen mock-up picture and hang it from your slab to get an idea of how it will look), but after talking with Jay about my appliances, cabinetry, and flooring choices, he suggested a different granite. He was so right! The Santa Augustino looks terrific with my bamboo cabinets, white appliances, and cork floors! Marble City has a nice showroom with lots of samples, and the "slab yard" next door. There's no rush or pressure, all questions are answered, the contract is very straight forward, and the results are beautiful! Everyone is very professional, kind, and patient from Sales, to Templates, to Scheduling, to the Installers. Thanks Marble City - I'll be sending you photos to add to your book!

I highly recommend Marble City. We spoke with a half dozen marble companies and did exhaustive research. With the 1 1/4" thick materials, Marble City Company educated us about how this thicker material is a better option. We did not get charged for the full slabs, we actually got to lay our template on the material with their fabricators, and had the opportunity to make small changes last minute with no issues. Our biggest concern was the 1 1/4" material and the weight of it considering we a 2 year old and he crawls all over everything. We ended up putting a thin sheet of steel below the island overhang with the granite and there is absolutely no safety issue...its stronger than it would be with plywood. Net, net is that the service was incredible (really, this is a big deal with granite), we saved tons of $$ with this type of slab, their materials were far superior to other granite slabs we saw and the kitchen turned out excellent. The lack of seams traditionally found with other granite companies because of glueing the edging makes a big difference in appearance. Strong recommendation. Ask for Jay Henderson...great guy and he'll take excellent care of you.

After visiting numerous retailers looking for possible countertop choices for my kitchen, I ultimately chose Marble City not only because of their selection of unique stones and competitive pricing, but they were recommended by a friend. I like that you're consistently dealing with same guy, Jay, who knows exactly what is happening with your project in every stage. Any question and you pick up the phone and call Jay. No repeating who you are and what the project is. Jay and I talked at length about what details would work best for my project, as well as how to best accomplish the look and feel I wanted for the kitchen. He showed me pictures to give me ideas and gave me recommendations based on his experience. The entire team at Marble City--from sales to installation--made my remodel painless (huge bonus). In fact, during installation, the guys ran into an unforeseen issue with the raise in the garden window sill. Andrei, the company president, drove to my home immediately and solved the problem. As of this post, I'm a repeat customer with Marble City. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Very pleased with our recent experience with Marble City. They have a big selection of beautiful slabs (1 1/4 inch thick). After several weeks of research for our kitchen remodel - visiting shops in Hayward, San Leandro, East Bay Area as well as San Francisco, South San Fran, Millbrae, Belmont, San Mateo & San Carlos - my last shop to visit was Marble City. Small by comparison to the shops visited but excellent selection of very thick stone and Jay Henderson provided me w/ some knowledge and insight on stone. The whole Marble City Team communicated, communicated and communicated! The template guy to the guys in the fab shop really made easy work of a very difficult job Very important when dealing with a ton of stone that you will be looking at everyday. The experience was great, the thick Black Galaxy granite looks spectacular and the price was on par with the thin 3/4" stone. Thickness really shows where the sinks reveal the edge of the stone.

My wife and I picked Marble City based on a recommendation from another couple. They and several other owners in their apt complex used Marble City. After dealing with many contractors & suppliers on our home remodel, I felt these guys did a great job in customer service, communication, and product quality. I found Jay H to be friendly and not pushy. Being that I was in sales before, I appreciate the low-key approach. Their selection online and in the store was quite good. They use the thick 1 1/4 granite which I guess is the trend now and they even held onto the slabs we picked for several months while our remodel kept having delays. The template maker came over and asked a lot of questions to make sure it was right, and the next day we picked out the arrangement of the slabs against the templates. Jay and the fabricator were there the entire time with us so it was great to have a collaborative experience to get the granite lined up and picking the best features of the slabs to show on our counter top.

We love our new granite countertop. Marble City was able to deliver us custom cut granite at a very reasonable price. Our counter is very deep in one corned and we were glad that we were able to get all of the counters cut without any seams. From the beginning of the process in looking at slabs and different colors to the final installation, our dealing with Marble City was smooth. Todd was the sales associate who helped me. He was very new, but very helpful. The pricing was clear and reasonable. The only thing that didn't go very smoothly was the scheduling, both the scheduling of the template cutting and the scheduling of the installation of the stone itself. As another reviewer mentioned, they deliver beautiful and quality work. The really took great care, both in the demolition of the old countertop and the installation of the new one. My countertop was installed May 2011, it still looks gorgeous.

In search of stone... I visited Marble City and liked what I saw. Also, Jay Henderson there is a great asset and a real help. Maybe sometimes too helpful (as in over-selling), but a nice and knowledgeable guy. Their overall selection is somewhat limited, but they have the basic stones that would probably satisfy all but a few buyers. The critical thing to know is that Marble City is a one-stop shop. They will do the fabrication for you, and I get the impression that that is really their bread and butter. Da Vinci Marble, down aways on Industrial in San Carlos, has a much larger selection (and tiles to boot), but they do not fabricate--they only recommend fabricators. So, bottom line (and with the caveat that I have no direct purchasing experience with them), Marble City appears to be a reasonable one-stop shop if you're looking for counter tops, fireplace facing, or other stone items.

I visited the slab lot of Marble city in San Carlos, they have a huge selection of remnants , but not the one we wanted. I need a small bath vanity top only 30 inches wide, and 21 inches deep. I asked for a quote and was rather surprised at the price, considering all the favorable reviews on yelp. The piece of slab and installed came to $1500 to 1600 depending on what stone we selected. Wow! this was nearly 200 % (2X) more than any of the other stores I visited, nearly 7 stores in the area. Now I realize they may have a huge selection of remnants, but this is just too far out there in pricing for a small, standard sized bath vanity, with a single sink. I think their pricing was out of line,,, by a mile,,, Guess they send their kids to Harvard or something. too bad, seem like nice folks. t

Used Marble City to get a large remnant for a bathroom remodel. This was my first time doing anything thing like this and I guess I had sucker written all over me. I ended up paying twice what I should have (my fault for not calling them on it) and they did not finish the under edge of the windowsill over a bathtub. So every time I take a bath and look up, I see the unfinished stone. My contractor didn't catch it and I didn't either until later. All of this could have been avoided had I been more on top of them but I shouldn't have had to. Live and learn. I've used Diamond in San Leandro twice since then and been perfectly satisfied with work and price.

I would not recommend Marble City at all! They made huge scratches in our brand new hardwood kitchen floor trying to move our stove during install. Which we commented on and took pictures of at the time and I have called and left messages for Vladimir three times and it's been about a month now and still no call back from him. I am really disappointed in their unwillingness to take responsibility for what they did and their complete lack of customer service! I'm so pissed! I would never use them again.

My counters were installed on 6/15/09. The installers did not tell me they cracked the marble while drilling a faucet hole. I noticed when I realized that I had miscounted the holes I needed. I call & Jay puts me in contact with Vladimir. He came out today 6/17/09 & does his best to convince me that the crack is not a crack, but a natural part of the marble. He is going to talk with the installers & ask them if they did it. What do you think they will say? I did not pay for a cracked counter. I am wishing that I had gone with Home Depot's vender & avoid this foolish game. I will keep everyone posted on the final outcome.
