What a great experience with this company. Starting with Jen Michalik, than Mike the template and layout gentleman, and most of all Luis and Christian the install guys. These folks were superb it was a pleasure to do business with all of them. This all took place during the pandemic January 2021. All aspects went without a hitch. Most importantly my wife is a very happy person. So Great Lakes "Thank You" for a job well done.

My granite countertops arrived and I couldn’t be more pleased! What a difference they make to my white kitchen. I’m also pleased with the service and support received from David Sobey, my consultant. They have a wide selection to choose from and the prices are very competitive. I told him I was looking for a white countertop but preferred Granite to Quartz. He selected a slab that was just the tone I was looking for and it turned out to be the perfect choice for my kitchen. The installers, Luis and team, were also very prompt, professional and perfectionist. I appreciate their hard work and attention to detail. I highly recommend Great Lakes Granite and Marble. Next up, the backsplash!

David and Great Lakes Granite & Marble were the best! The installers were awesome. It was a slight delay in getting an appointment for installation due to COVID but the delay was not to long. David is professional, courtesy, and always responded in a timely manner.

I worked with Susanna on my kitchen countertop. She was very responsive. The prices were better than the big box stores. Everything went smoothly. They are not one-stop shop however. They will not do any plumbing disconnect and reconnect so I needed a plumber to come out twice. Disconnect should be easy. I think they should do disconnect to save some hassle. Reconnects could require some work if you change your sink. I would give them 5 stars if they also do the plumbing. I definitely would recommend them.

This is the second time my husband and I have used Great Lakes Granite & Marble. We are extremely happy with our granite (both now and last time). Nicole was wonderful in answering our questions, and taking the time to walk us through the different slabs to make sure we found exactly what we were looking for. We went from looking at slabs, to installation in three weeks flat! Our home is a new build and is finishing construction and the installers were extremely careful to make sure they didn't leave a mess. They are quick and efficient and very polite! We will continue to refer our friends and family to GLG&M.

If you are reading reviews trying to decide if you should use Great Lakes Granite & Marble, I have the answer for you: Absolutely! Our experience with Great Lakes Granite & Marble was fantastic. As a young couple with a new house, we needed new countertops but also needed to remain within our budget. That is where Nicole came in. She made the process of identifying cost efficient options while maintaining our vision a reality. From identifying perfect countertop options to helping us decide on what sink would work best, she was there every step of the way. We could not be happier with our end result and the exceptional customer service we received. Thank you Nicole and Great Lakes Granite & Marble!

We recently used Great Lakes Granite for our countertops in our new kitchen. Since the installation, we've had several issues. We chose to have an 18" over hang on our center island. This required us to purchase 3 steel brackets to be put in by them to support the extra weight. When the installers came, they started to place the slab on the cabinets. I interceded and asked about the brackets. I was told they had no idea what I was talking about, that they never do that and it was up to our contractor. A few phone calls and days later, the brackets were found in the warehouse and low and behold it is a standard install for larger islands. Also, we asked for an 1/8" gap around our stove. Day of install, they had to fit the slab in with manipulation and ended up wedging our new stove in without movement and some pressure. When they came out to fix it, they left a chip in the granite and scratched the finish off our new gas stove. The biggest issue is the kitchen sink. They installed the wrong sink. I didnt realize it until after they left. When I called, i was told they didnt carry the sink they did install. Then i was told the serial number was never changed on the order between our contractor and rep. When the measuring was done, I sign off based on a verbal conversation. Which included agreeing upon a 9" sink called the Doral. I was not given a hard copy and had nothing for reference. The only thing i had was an electronic copy of the specification and picture of the sink (the Doral 50/50 9" sink) we initially approved of and was provided to me via my contractor. My husband crawled under the sink to snap a picture of the serial number on the installed sink. After comparing numbers and measuring the depth, we discovered the error. I now have the Athena 10" sink and with no resolution. 4 weeks have passed, several different versions of the story and all they say is they are "working" on it. The do NOT stand behind there work or product. I would not recommend using them. 10/24/24 In response to your reply, your "possible solutions" were at additional costs to me. Your team member Nicole failed to own up to their error in the sign off. She had not changed the order we discussed with her and our contractor with regards to the sink. We have documented proof of the sink we selected. Nicole nor our contractor were available the day of installation where multiple issue occurred. And the story just kept changing and changing as time progressed. We couldn't not verify the "contract" as we did not receive a hard copy or electronic copy of it until 4 weeks later. It should be given to the client at the time of the electronic sign off to verify everything is correct before the final cuts are made. I'm a designer, and I have yet to come across a client that would want the same depth kitchen sink as a laundry tub.

Great Lakes did a wonderful job helping me select my granite! I worked with Susanna, who was very polite and respectful. Scott did a great job with the measurements, considering my unique design and that I didn’t have some of my fillers and fridge framing done yet, the design was spot on. And the installers did a fantastic job, they also went a step further and cutout parts of my sink cabinet to bring the sink closer to the edge. Very impressed, and the timing too, everything was done within 2-3 weeks! A+A+

UPDATE I had a different company out today to measure for my kitchen and I had them take a look at the backsplash. They said 100% without doubt that the backsplash was broken prior to installation. It's not possible for it to have been broken afterwards, like these losers claim... ORIGINAL REVIEW Great Lakes is dishonest and doesn't stand behind their work. The installers broke my backsplash in half and installed it anyways. As the granite I picked has a very distinctive pattern and the backsplash was bookended to match the pattern, they knew the entire job would have to be redone at their expense so they didn't tell me. I didn't notice they had broken it and signed off. When I did notice it, they claim I broke it myself! All they cared about was the fact that I signed off when the installers were there. To try to explain further, the backsplash is a flat piece of granite, yet what they installed isn't flat. When I put a straight edge against the backsplash, the granite is perfectly flat until you get to where they broke it. After the break, the granite is no longer in plane with the rest of it, moving away from the straight edge. There is a quarter inch gap between the granite and straight edge by the time you get to the end of the backsplash. I wonder how I broke it and then magically shoved one end of the broken piece INTO THE DRYWALL A QUARTER OF AN INCH. Sorry, that's not possible. Take a look at the picture, apply a little logic and come to your own conclusion. In the second picture, you'll notice that the installers filled the break with epoxy to try to hide what they did... It was a poor attempt as I eventually saw it but Luis Garcia, the general manager, simply doesn't care. Third picture is probably not needed but I circled the epoxy they used to attempt to hide their screw up. It's plainly obvious to anyone with at least 1 semi functioning eye, except anyone at Great Lakes Granite... The dark green epoxy doesn't match any other green in the entire countertop and feels different under your finger nail. It's not granite... Great Lakes only cares about profits. They employee dishonest people and once they get that coveted signature from you, expect to get a middle finger if you have a problem. It's what they did to me...

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Great Lakes Granite and Marble. The customer service was far from satisfactory. Communication was poor—responses to my inquiries were either delayed or non-existent. When I did manage to get a hold of someone, they were unhelpful and seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns. Overall, the lack of professionalism and attention to detail was frustrating. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

Luis and Great Lakes G&R were fantastic! After a spot of trouble with caused by an employee who left the company during our process, Luis jumped in like a superhero and took care of us! He made sure our scheduled date held firm. The leathered fantasy brown quartzite in our kitchen is amazing!!! We also love the sueded Silver Lake quartz in the bathroom. So great. Thank you, Luis and Great Lakes G&R.

We are so pleased with our granite from Great Lakes Granite. Jen was fantastic helping us every step of the way. She was so patient- while we decided which slab ( in their warehouse) we wanted. The end result is more beautiful than I expected! We HIGHLY recommend Great Lakes Granite and Marble. One of the best features is being able to pick out your slab!! They also make templates for measuring- which they allow you to lay your templates right on your slab. If you're considering Granite- be sure to come here- the selection, service and installation are all 5 star!

Great Lakes Granite was fantastic to work with! From my experience shopping at the showroom, to templating our quartzite for the perfect layout, to the installation, it all exceeded my expectations. We were able to get a beautiful pattern bookmarked on our countertops, everything was laid out perfectly with the template, and the finished product is gorgeous. Brandon was an excellent product manager and the installers were extremely professional, patient, and clean. I would highly recommend Great Lakes Granite and Marble.

Aaron B. provided excellent customer service throughout my project. From the first phone call I had with him inquiring about the process, all the way through granite and marble selection, setting up the measurement, reviewing the template, installation, and following up to make sure everything went well, he exceeded my expectations. I was also impressed that he as well as another associate at the shop were so accommodating with regard to my small children. They let my son give a dog treat to the company dog on our first visit, so my son actually looked forward to our trips to the store. My project was fairly small, installing 2 remnants, but I was treated like an important customer throughout the entire process. I had visited other granite companies before going to Great Lakes and the other places did not even want to bother with such a small project. I have already started recommending Great Lakes to my friends and family.

As a homeowner, contractor, and architect, I have used many company for various items over the years. GLGM are top notch in my book. Hands DOWN the staff, most of all Brandon, were great! Attentive (even at a very very busy Saturday with more than 10 people waiting including my wife and I), personable, friendly....need I say more? I have used GLGM three times now for my granite and ALL three times have been stellar! They were very patient with my wife who was having a slight time trying to get the "right" slab of Perlato granite. It had to have big "chunks" of quartz in it for her thumbs up. Brandon and Jim didn't rush her or us, giving her the time to pick the perfect slabs of the 10 we looked at - lol. And timing to fit it into a busy schedule of ours and theirs??! Perfect AGAIN! On time( both their template maker and the installers), courteous...just a great company to get your granite from.... Another satisfied customer and contractor who WILL be getting more granite from GLGM.

Great Lakes was not exactly "in the neighborhood", but after checking out several other places, we decided it would be worth the drive. We are glad we did! We couldn't be happier with the way we were treated by Chris and team from start to finish. And the install team of Brian and Matt were great! Our new kitchen looks fabulous! They were very patient with us as first time granite customers. We would certainly recommend them to others, and plan to give Chris another call when our bathroom is ready to finish. They have a good selection of granite to choose from, and we are completely satisfied.

Outstanding products and service! I gutted my kitchen and used Great Lakes Granite and Marble for new kitchen countertops and backslashes. I was able to go in on a Saturday morning to pick out my stone which was nice that I didn't have to take time off work during the week. Brandon showed me around and educated me on the properties of the different options and gave me the pros and cons of each and went over the options for finishes and edges. I went in thinking I was getting granite but I ended up falling in love with a sparkling white quartz. Rafael provided me with an estimate first thing Monday for the 3 stones I picked out and answered all my questions. Templets were made the following Monday and per my request I was called 20 minutes prior to their arrival so I could let them in. Total time for template making was 20 minutes or so. My countertops were installed the following week. Install guys were very professional and polite. They were running a couple hours behind schedule but called me numerous times to let me know when they would arrive. They did such a great job with the seam that if I hadn't seen them carry the two pieces in I wouldn't have know where the seam was. The quartz looks beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Great Lakes was great with every step from fabrication to install always returning my calls/emails promptly. They also warranty their work which provides a nice peace of mind knowing that as long as i'm in this house I will not have to worry about countertops. Thanks again Great Lakes for an amazing job!

They were very helpful with letting us pick out colors and they installed things on my schedule, which was fantastic. After the install, we noticed that there was a significant different between the edge profiles on the different pieces in our kitchen. After contacting Great Lakes Granite & Marble they came out and smoothed out the edge profile to match the other areas of the countertop. Everything looks great.

Very happy with the granite itself, but disappointed when they did not have enough material to do my backsplash when it appeared they would. The install went well and they did a great job on both seams. Other issue was scratches in the right sink that were there when they brought it in. I did not want to delay install when i noticed them ans thought they would come out. They were very noticeable. Overall i would recommend this company, but check out everything they bring after my experience with the sink.

I would not recommend this company. Very nice people, but was not satisfied with the installation of my quartz countertop, at all! The seam is very noticeable, and they initially had the countertop so out of level, until I had them come back, to remove, a completely unnecessary shim. My quartz countertops are nice, I was happy with our service until after they were installed. My husband noticed that the corners on the two different pieces are different. One is rounded and the other is square. We chose square as we have a modern kitchen. I asked Kevin to have the rounded one fixed, I didn't want it replaced, a refund, or a discount. I just wanted my $2,300 investment to be consistent. He informed me via email that after speaking wth the manager and owner they were unwilling to fix their mistake because I signed off on measurements. When the gentleman came to measure, he never mentioned that the corners were going to be different, nor was it listed on the sign off sheet. I believe this is something that should be specified if the end product will be different than what was originally picked out by us, the customer. They offered to change the rounded edges but we would have to pay out of pocket to fix their mistake. For this reason I would not recommend them to ANYONE. I understand things happen and I was not initially upset, I just wanted it fixed. Now I am upset and disappointed. I am highly dissatisfied with the level of customer service I received. Maybe because our order was only "$2300" we aren't considered important customers. They were recommended to us by Cabinets to go because they offered a "discount" and to be honest they were the same price as what we were quoted elsewhere. We went with them because we preferred the stone they had. Now we have beautiful quartz countertops with mismatched corners in the same room. Not what you expect when you spend thousands on countertops.

We selected Granite from this company for our kitchen, we were really excited and the Project Manager that worked with us at the start was awesome. Day of install our granite was cut wrong so install was delayed while this was corrected - no biggie at this point. Installers came back and did install and within minutes we found cracks and a pretty significant repair that had been done to a big crack. A person was sent out and agreed there were issues, the granite cutter manager was sent and he confirmed he broke it while cutting. After this was when the real issues started. All of our calls and emails were pretty much ignored and any return calls they refused to help other than offer to sell us new granite at discount to fix what was their issues. The owner of the company was 100% unresponsive and the Project Manager that was assigned to us .... Not the original person we had (she was great by the way), was condescending and extremely unhelpful not to mention a liar - I won't mention her name but other reviews have named her as a liar also. Anyway - long story short we sued this company and won the case and got all our money back. My advise to anyone considering doing business with this company move on or be extremely careful ... they offer no support and have zero accountability for their workmanship.

We purchased quartz countertops from them in 2019. This was the first time we purchased countertops and I will NEVER go back here. When I told the installers I saw imperfections they treated me like I was "seeing" things. That was not a good sign. Shortly after a year, the warranty period of course, the seams began looking VERY noticeable and the finish started to dull, even though I followed the cleaning instructions given by the installers. After 2 years, there's a crack starting from one of the corners! When I called they just gave me numbers of companies that provide maintenance for stone countertops, maintenance that quartz wasn't supposed to need! They don't stand behind their products. Customer service is awful. It took WEEKS to even get a call back. Very disappointing after spending a considerable amount of money. Countertops are an investment. Don't waste your investment with Great Lakes Granite & Marble.

This company did a horrible, horrible job on our kitchen counters. Run away! They had to come out four times to do the counter and it is still not correct and still looks terrible. Suzanna lied to us multiple times and tried to tell me the DRAWING that they did of my kitchen was correct and my ACTUAL kitchen was not correct. They did a hideous job with the shims and said they can't fix it. Picture is of the shim they added on top of my cabinet/under the counter. Worst experience ever.

Only giving one star since the project manager I worked with initially was courteous and prompt with communication. Otherwise, was not happy with the installation process. Measurements were not accurately captured or the installation of granite countertops. Large gaps between the wall and the countertop (only on certain areas of the counter) what an eye sore! Spoke with a Rich Bloom about my issues with the granite layout and installation, was told that there should be gaps between the wall and the countertop. When asked why this was not consistent throughout my entire countertop, as some areas were flush to the wall and very neat. However, he could not provide an explanation as to why this method was not consistent throughout. Only advised that the gaps are a consistent practice that that use when measuring. Was asked why this was not explained during the measuring process and he could not provide an explanation, just made excuses. Never offered to make it right or to the customer's liking. There are other granite companies out there that can do a better job, don't go here.

We checked out the in stock granite slabs available and got rough estimates from several granite companies in the Detroit area. Great Lakes Granite wasn't the cheapest, but had the granite slabs we really liked for our kitchen. We worked with Jenn, project manager. We agreed on the specifics of the contract and had received the preliminary contract. When I went to sign the final contract and send in my deposit, noticed that some terms and prices had changed. Contacted Jenn and she said oops -- she forgot to include some standard items. We should have walked away then. Classic bait and switch, but had invested a lot of time getting estimates and really liked the granite slab they had in stock. Measurement and install time took much longer than she had estimated to us, by several weeks. Had major problem with install-- granite either not measured correctly or poor install, or both. Interesting to note that Great Lakes Granite does not have install employees, they only use "independent contractor" installers who worth for them "exclusively" or for most part only work for them. Must be a way Great Lakes saves money on employment taxes and minimize their accountability to customers. The granite was installed with large gaps between walls, mismatched seam colors and large gaps between pieces. We were told by Jenn that this is normal variation and that it meets "industry standards". Was a poor install job and we got the run around. Spent lots of unnecessary time trying get our problems resolved. They did not do the qualiy work that we paid for. They have no control on the quality of work that their multiple independent contractor installers do. This is not a first quality company and I would not recommend them to others.

I would never recommend this company to anyone. Everything was great until installation. The installers were over 4 hours late becausemof a flat tire. Our salesperson KEVIN, was notified but did not call to let us know. This caused my husband to miss a half day of work and pay for no reson. The granite was not cut correctly. The space for the stove had to be redone on site and it does not look right. The biggest piece of counter was too short, leaving over a half inch gap to the wall that cannot be filled in. After calling Kevin to complain, we were informed that we should have removed the old countertops before they measured. We would have been happy to do so if we had known. That bit of information is in the fine print of the contract. Shame on us for not reading the fine print. As a first time granite buyer, i feel that it should not have been too difficult for our salesperson to explain some of these things to us. Waste of 4000 dollars. Go somewhere else, spend your money in a business that actually cares about you as a customer.

Your response only makes my second response easier to substantiate. Do you think a 5 month install wait was worth saving 200 for? Your records show those contacts but I estimate we made over 40 undocumented calls that were never returned because you were shortstaffed based on what we were told. If we knew it was going to be more than 2 months or the sink we wanted was not available we would have never moved ahead but a 10 inch double is rare. Also we were told measurement fees were not much but did not know exact price because of distance? How is a 350 fee on a 2000 countertop not much? We asked for a manager and the answer was no, pay 800 in fees or proceed. Then we were told the sink we wanted which was 100 more was not what we were quoted for? I ask for three things when i do business, honesty/transparency, competitive pricing and for my needs to be met and I did not get any of those 3. I ended paying more for a product that was supposed to be cheaper, waiting 3.5 months later than the 4-8 week time frame given, and I was basically told that I could take an 800 loss or stop complaining and proceed. Ive dealt with 3 different employees and would not be surprised if the third person is gone just as the other two quit before Joey.

Everything seemed to go well through the install, but that is when we real trouble began. They installed the sinks right on top of the faucet holes making it impossible to install my faucets. Of course, I did not realize it until I had my contractor in to install the faucets. My contractor ended up wasting his time because he could not install them. Then it took 3 visits to address the issue, which they did by cutting a piece of the sink to make room for the brackets. They left a gap in the sink tot he countertop that now needs to closed up with Silicon. They agreed to install the faucets without the plumbing as a good faith gesture. Unfortunately they installed them wrong so my contractor had to return and spend 90 minutes fixing their mistake. Bottomline, there are lots of Granite places out there. I would look elsewhere!!

Completely flabbergasted! REASON: I called GLGM inquiring whether or not they could fabricate a granite-topped buffet for a bathroom vanity. Holes would have to be drilled in the granite for the plumbing and the drawers cut out to accommodate such. They offered to install the unit in my home after fabrication... great! I saw that they were MIA certified and believed this was the mark of a good, professional company. My Story & The Problem: After a number of discussions -over the course of maybe 4 days- with the arbitrarily assigned Project Manager (PM) Rob A., after emailing pictures and posing a Plan A & Plan B, after we borrowed a truck to transport the furniture to GLGM on Saturday, after speaking to the shop person in detail about the project (he measured the faucet & requested the sink), after loading the car Sunday night with the sink & the drawers for the unit, AND after asking the PM on Monday (today) at least 3x "is this project do-able?, is this situation 'ok'?, Can you do this? (each time answered assuredly and in the affirmative). This guy calls me back 2hrs later and says GLGM can't remove the wood from the unit "due to liability". They don't want to be responsible for something happening to the piece. (Cutting out the wood allows for the installation of the plumbing paraphernalia which of course, was discussed in detail with the shop manager). GLGM SOLUTION: Now, because of liability, before they could work on the piece, I would have to pick-up the buffet (which for me means borrowing a truck, again!!), have the granite top removed (not my area of expertise!), have the wood removed (no problem, I can saw!), then return it to them and they would cut out the holes. (No kidding! that is what he said!) OBSERVATION: Forget about the rude front desk help (EXCEPT the woman that waited on me Monday when dropping off the sink -very pleasant!), forget about the totally unprofessional behavior of the staff hinting that the PM is an idiot, and the lady who talked to me as if I dreamt up this fabricating idea 20 minutes b4 deciding to drop in on them with a piece of furniture with granite affixed to the top.... but to get this far down the road and say, "uhhh, it was a mis-communication". Wow, Beav!!! I was going to escalate this and present my case to a higher manager or owner, BUT, after reading all the other frustrated, dissatisfied, boiling reviews from other customers, I let my poor judgement allow me to get further involved with GLGM because of some serious time constraints. I should've cut my losses, ate the wasted gas, the idiocy, the time lost, and picked up my buffet and moved on to a reputable company. I didn't! I got a phone call, let them fabricate the granite on the piece; and wouldn't you know it, even though I took them the faucet that was to be used in the unit, the holes were NOT cut large enough... it's enough to make you swear! UNBEEE-LEIVABLE! So, 6 months later (did I mention TIME constraints!) the unit sits in my dining room until I can RE-visit getting it properly fabricated! (The reason we couldn't have people over for the holidays!) Consider this: A GLGM person named 'Chris' responded on another site to a customer's review and offered NO remedy for the customer's complaint. Instead, he indicated how suspicious it was that 3 bad complaints about GLGM with the same tone were registered on the same date! This in itself is a clue to how problems are handled at GLGM. It is hardly suspicious. These guys are a bunch of yo-yos! RECOMMENDATION: Take the clue. Buy a vowel if you have to. But DON'T buy from GLGM! You're sure to be sorry. My true rating is -*** (negative three stars!)

This company is a subcontractor for Home Depot. When you order granite from Home Depot, (at least at the Harper Woods Home Depot), this is the company you deal with. (Run away!) I say this because Home Depot is no help if you have a problem. Great Lakes must give you a lower grade of granite. It has chips, flakes, and sharp pits on the surface. It took over a week to get someone out after they installed it. In the mean time, we had to hook up the plumbing. They admitted it was rougher than most. To resolve the matter, they would take the counter tops out, but would not be responsible for breaking the granite sink, (which the installer said almost always happens), or any other damage. They said they could not fix the problem effectively in the home. Another option would be to credit our account. We wanted the credit. A week later they said they could fix the counters in the kitchen, ( which they said they could not do before), and no credit was possible. What? They sent a good worker out to steel wool the tops and polish them. It is better, but it is not even close to the samples they show you at Home Depot.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with customer service. They were terrible with our install date, from 2 weeks to 8 with no communication. I am extremely disappointed with how my granite turned out and I can't even get a response from my project manager. I will never recommend this company, not even to my enemies. Once they got our money they couldn't have cared less. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, Angies List, and warned all of my friends on Facebook. A friend of mine works for Lowes and even warned me not to use them. If they continue to treat their customers this way they will be another Michigan business going under.

I am not the type of person to go online and write a review, especially a negative one but I have to say that working with this company has been the WORST experience I have ever had as a customer. I can't look at my countertops without getting upset and for the money we spent that makes me very very sad. It should have been a fun purchase but instead it was a NIGHTMARE because of these people. It should be said that HOME DEPOT was a DREAM, often apologizing and trying to make right this company's wrongs over and over again but because this is their only granite fabricator I would have to say it isn't worth it, don't go through Home Depot unless they drop them. To name a few examples of why I will tell every person I know to avoid this company like the plague are: Zero communication (including IGNORED phone messages and emails) pushed out install dates beyond what any patient person could handle, rude project managers and receptionists, botched installs and miscalculations on charges resulting in being overcharged.
