Best experience we’ve had in home improvement and remodel. Having your home turned upside down for remodeling is an unpleasant time. The crew from Gillespie’s made it the least unpleasant possible. They were early everyday and work all day, practically non stop. They finished ahead of schedule by my, and their expectations and performed flawlessly. Best part is they were extremely respectful careful going about their day.

We couldn't be happier with our experience with Gillespie's. Every person we came in contact with went above and beyond to be helpful. Angela assisted us with tile selection over months and continually showed us new products and provided many samples for us to work with. Craig kept us up to date on the status of our project as there were some delays in getting our materials and completed the final shower door installation himself when the glass company was not going to be available in a timely manner. Our primary crew of Scott and Bryce were amazing. They were always on time, courteous, professional and respectful of our space. They kept us informed as the project progressed and allowed us to give input when needed. Their work was completed ahead of schedule and the results were exactly what we hoped for. Our new shower is just perfect!!

Gillespie’s did a wonderful job installing hard wood floors in our home. There was a lot of custom work which turned out beautifully. Craig, the project manager, sent pictures to us throughout the project and kept us updated. The project was completed on Tim and on budget. Craig went above and beyond expectations by helping to move items back in the house, touching up paint, and fixing a few small details we weren’t completely satisfied with. We highly recommend Gillespie’s and plan to use them for other projects.

Good communication and decent prices for the quality of materials and installation. Took about a month and a half from when we selected the carpet to when it was installed which is pretty good for carpet installation. I forget his name, I think it was Howie, but he was really helpful for us by pulling samples based on the patterns we were interested in and allowed us to take them home and make sure they were a match. I have used other big box stores for carpeting in past houses, but you can tell the quality and installation method is way better with Gillespies. Would definitely recommend!

Love, Love, Love this company. My husband and I went into Gillespie's a few weeks ago looking for laminate flooring. We were greeted by Casey and he showed us to the flooring we expressed we wanted. We found exactly what we wanted quickly. Casey was super nice and professional through the entire process. He set up a appointment for installation and a little over a weeks time we have our beautiful new flooring. 😍 I highly recommend Gillespie's to anyone looking to get new flooring. People at Gillespie's are friendly and helpful. They are in no way pushy. I took weeks to decide on my carpet and there was no pressure. They ordered larger samples for me to view in my home. When I finally chose a carpet they ordered and installed very soon. They told me their installers are magical and I certainly agree. They very carefully handled my antiques in a manner which made me very comfortable. They allowed me to be nearby while they were installing and were willing to show and explain their procedures. Gary and his crew finished installing our LVP floor today and we are very happy with their work. They arrived on time and kept us updated of their progress. The whole experience with Gillespie’s has been great. I initially contacted two companies because I thought Gillespie was expensive. The first company wanted to do a demo on our tile floor instead of putting the LVP on top of the tile and we didn’t want to deal with the extra cost and hassle. I called another local company but did not get a call back. We visited Gillespie after attending a car show and we were impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of Casey. We had so much back and forth because we could not decide on the color that fits our budget. He was patient the whole time and worked with our budget. The cost of our project was reasonable. Gillespie installed LVP floor at my work few years ago and it still look great. I highly recommend Gillespie because of their professionalism, workmanship and reasonable pricing.

In brief, we needed to remove carpet from 4 bedrooms and we decided to replace it with laminate flooring. Why laminate? When we bought the house it had laminate in the front room and the hallway. We like it. It's worked well for 8 years. The carpet, not so much. I contacted several contractors. The highest estimate (well known company) was approx. $1500 more than Gillespie's and the other contractors came in lower, but were smaller and didn't have much in the way of availability. I spoke with Casey, he helped me pull swatches, and then we scheduled the job. The new flooring is similar to the older laminate. And it works for us. The installers finished in 2 1/2 days. The original plan was for 3 days. I appreciate them working efficiently because it was really warm those days. They arrived when they said they would (between 8-9 am) each day and they worked. The installers communicated with me frequently. Casey also called to check in to make sure they cleaned up, etc. This was a pain free experience. We absolutely love the flooring.

Gillespie's installed carpeting in 3 upstairs bedrooms, master closet, stairs and upstairs hallway as well as Mannington Adura Max Margate Oak Coastline Vinyl plank waterproof floors in the master bathroom and a 2nd bathroom upstairs. I waited a year to post intentionally as I wanted to see how everything would be a year after the fact. The team at Gillespie's was great, Monty, Craig and Tempe were all very helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with (as were the installers) So a year later I am very satisfied with the carpets and the vinyl plank floors. I love the fact that they look just like wood, and will stand up to being in bathroom area's (no way was I going to put real wood or laminate in a bathroom). All the areas done look as good today as they did when they were installed. Great team of people to work with. Monty actually made an error when calculating the amount of carpet needed and they were a little short to finish one bedroom. Monty is a standup business man, he acknowledged his miscalculation, had the carpet installed and didn't charge me a dime more then the original quote. Now that is what I call customer service from a man of integrity. My opinion, you can't do better then Gillespie's.

Scott & Liza Thomford. They did everything they said they were going to do to our one story, 3BR, 2bath, slab home, including when they were going to do it. Professional managers and staff helped us every step of the way -- walls, ceilings, selecting colors, coordinating with new flooring & some new electrical work. On a scale of one (low end) to ten (best), these guys get an eleven.

We visited Gillespie's Abbey Carpet & Floor to see samples of engineered hardwood flooring that we had chosen for installation at our new home. Casey immediately identified the samples for us and also suggested several others that were within our budget and met our specifications. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly is passionate about helping customers find the flooring that best suits their needs and tastes. Even though we were not going through Gillespie's for installation, Casey still reached out to the rep of the brand we had chosen to inquire about competitive pricing, and encouraged us to take samples home with us. Though we ultimately chose to move forward with the product that our installer was able to provide for us, we were so impressed with the customer service at Gillespie's, and will keep them in mind for future flooring projects.

We have been doing business with Gillespie's Abbey Carpet for more than 25 years. They are a wonderful company to deal with. Monty and Craig, the owners are totally quality oriented and customer centric. They direct everyone in the company to provide excellent service and workmanship. The products they sell are high quality and the service and installation is excellent. We have used them for laminate floors on two homes, carpet on several homes, window coverings, shutters and tile cleaning. The most recent job was for a new oak floor in our current home. I had called Gillespie to inquire about fixing our ripped carpet in two parts of two bedrooms. The woman whom I spoke with, was very friendly over the phone and said we can set up an appointment with Ron, who can inspect the damage and give us an estimate of how much it will cost to be repaired. When Ron arrived, he seemed very friendly and professional. He went to the rooms and wrote up an estimate for me to hang on too. Upon calling other places who wanted to charge me $300+ to fix the damage, Ron quoted us at a very reasonable price. I decided to book with him and he was able to work with my schedule to come back and repair the carpet. When Ron came back the second time, we had him use the carpet from the closets to repair the room carpet. He was very quick and efficient. He had both damaged carpets completed and cleaned within 1.5 hours. The repaired carpet looked fantastic! You couldn't even tell where he had cut and where the new carpet was. I especially liked that he guaranteed his work and told us that if we noticed it starting to lift, we could call him back within 2 weeks to come back and fix it. It has been a few months since he has done the repair and it is still looking great! We even got a card in the mail thanking us for our business. I am so happy with Ron's work and would definitely be calling him again if we are ever in need of carpet repair again. Thank you so much Gillespie and Ron!

I'm posting this review on behalf of Cal West Pet Hospital in Fairfield, since our business page can't post reviews. We had Gillespie's put in new vinyl flooring at our pet hospital April 2017. We are very happy with their work, the new floors look great! Jason (the foreman) was very happy to come back and fix a few very minor problems we had with the floor after the job was finished. He was professional and timely. They have a great selection of flooring, and were very helpful in showing us samples of different colors and patterns of the vinyl flooring we were interested in. Craig and Tempe helped us through out our floor buying process and they were amazing! We re-floored our 2,100 sq foot house with tile throughout and carpet in the bed rooms. The project didn't go without a few hiccups, our carpet came in and had some manufacturer defect so we had to choose new carpet and some of the tile had flaws but they made everything right and went above and beyond for us, making even the experience pleasurable and we are 100% happy with the final product! We were originally contemplating some other options, less expensive and even more "chain" type floor stores but we decided to support local, family owned business and with out a doubt we are happy we did, it is the way to go every time! We are winding down on a major kitchen remodel and had hired Gillespie's to install our flooring and back splash early in the project. They have a great selection of different products. Craig Hoover was very helpful with suggestions based upon our kitchen design and we chose a sandstone porcelain 18-inch tile for our flooring and glass mosaic for our back splash.Craig had to work with a tight schedule based upon our kitchen designer's schedule and did a great job getting the flooring and back splash installed on time. The installers did a great job and the finished product looks fantastic. I definitely will use Gillespie's for any future work and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I choose this company because it was a family run business. I had them clean my carpets in my kids rooms and our two living rooms, where we spend most of our time as a family. The job they did was amazing, my carpets smelled fresh and clean. To walk on them was like walking on new carpet. Gillespies has been a family run business in Fairfield for over 76 years. The Hoovers have had the business for over 36 years and they are very knowledgeable on all the products. I came in looking for a wood looking floor without the expense of hardwood. I was guided to a product called Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP). Beautiful looking product. I went with this product and their installers laid it in my home. It is absolutely beautiful. When friends come over they cant believe it is not "wood" . From the start to finish it was a wonderful experience. I would recommend Gillespie's Abbey Carpet to anyone.

It's with a heavy heart that I write this review of the work I paid Gillespie's for this past August. I hired a local, family-owned company with great reviews on Yelp, but my experience fell short of expectations. TL;dr Gillespie's doesn't keep to their schedules and takes on too many projects to manage them. If you don't have a deadline this local company is fine. Ask for a written contract though. 1. I was very clear with both owners Monte and Craig that I had a "hard-stop" deadline, and that all work must be completed before then. I was assured many, many times by Craig and his daughter that everything was going according to plan. Even when Craig let me know they would be starting a day later than agreed upon (because he fit another project in front of mine), he assured me that all work would be done on-time--even though they were reducing the amount of time for the project. I wasn't aware that Gillespie's uses 1099 sub-contractors, and that they had no control over their carpet guy, who was the last piece of the puzzle. That sub showed up two and a half hours late the day he was supposed to come in--and when I let him know the movers were on-time and would be coming up the stairs (which he was carpeting), he growled, "They ain't coming upstairs!" When I assured him that yes, they would be, he walked off the job. This was 60 minutes before the deadline. The company didn't call to let me know of any issues (though I'd left messages), until *he* called them. 2. They assigned two installers to install all the flooring (except for stairs and a hallway) for a 1700 sf job. Then, the two installers would be pulled off the job mid-day, disappearing for two or more hours at a time. I found out that they were working on owner Craig's "flip." They were nice guys who worked really hard, but the owners need to take fewer jobs to allow them to do the jobs properly. Btw, the carpet guy who walked was replaced by another team of carpet installers who were pulled off a different job. They were UNHAPPY about that, and I don't blame them. It took them a lot longer than the three hours Craig assured me the entire job would take. 3. Because the main installers were in such a rush, they left without cleaning up, leaving piles of debris, dusty hand prints, some seriously messed up moldings and paint on our second floor, etc. Rather than have to deal with the staff again, I asked for a $300 refund check to have someone else fix it, and Gillespie's complied. 4. There are issues with the carpet tack strips coming through the carpeting on the stairs, so no bare feet. I mentioned this to owner Monte when he ran through the house before collecting the balance payment from me. Rather than get down and feel with his hands he told me to let them know if it continues to be an issue. It's an issue, and it's only been 2.5 months. 5. As licensed contractors, Gillespie's should be giving clients a written contract per the California Contractor's State Licensing Board. They only gave me an estimate, and then demanded a 50% payment. I don't know if they have some special deal with the CSLB, but state law says a written contract is required and an up-front payment can't be more than $1k when contracts are $2k and up. None of our other contractors asked for a dime before they came in. (And, a contractor can't bill for material(s) until it's in/on the client's property....). 6. When Craig gave the the start date I let him know the painters would be on-site that same week. He said, "Not a problem, we work with that company on sites at the same time a lot!" When I told the painting team (a team of FOUR plus a project manager who came by multiple times a day, every day), they let me know this was NOT the case, that it was NOT normal, and then they smiled and said they'd make it work. That team was awesome. 7. Monte stated they would pay for our plumbers to fix work that wasn't done properly. When I asked to receive that statement in writing, it never came. I paid for it myself. I talked to friends and family members after the job was done and learned that they had similar experiences. Had I talked to them ahead of time I would NOT have hired this company. Even down to little things, like Tempe saying that a "thank you of sweet treats" would be arriving from some bakery wasn't true. It never came (not that it mattered), but if you say something like that, you should follow through. There's more that could be said. I will say that we do like our flooring, and had we not had issues with the deadline not being met, I'd have given them a better rating. But when you start to peel back the layers of the onion, you start to realize that something kind of stinks,

This is a family run busines. We experience poor project management and quality control of the projectwhile it was in process.. The staff are very nice but we were very disappointed in how the replacement of our carpet in the living, dining and office and flooring in the bathroom and master bedroom closet was handled. We chose a simulated wood product for the living room, dining and office. Gillespies to give a co-contractor's worker some employment allowed the worker to do the job. He wasnot experienced in laying the simulated wood product. The product is laid down just as hard wood is. Some of the cuts were uneven which had to be redone. We had them come out as the border/molding did not match and it was replaced. Now the border needs to be glued down again. Which will make at least the 3rd visit for that product-which we do like. Its been over a year and I am just reluctant to try and deal with them. On the bathroom, master bedroom walk in closet. I was instructed to clean out my closet so the new vinyl tile could be laid on a Friday after the wood product was completed. The installer did not finish the dining, living and office until Friday afternoon. He said there wasnt sufficient time to do the rest of the project. This meant that all my clothes etc needed to be out of the closet all weekend. On Monday, a different installer came out---BAD NEWS .....the product that I picked in stock had been incorrectly marked and there wasnt enough for the job. So, I went to Gillespies and picked out another vinyl which I could accept but didnt really like. To have gotten a vinyl that I really liked would have meant another delay with all of my things out of the master bedroom closet. Throughout , the staff at Gillespies/owners were pleasant BUT the quality control just wasnt there. I would probably and have in the past use them for carpet cleaning. I wish them well in this tough economy and hope all the glitches that we experienced with our project have been a lesson learned for them.

They came to clean carpet for 255$ they did a horrible job the carpets look the same and were soaking wet the spots I cleaned were better save your money choose to a different carpet cleaning service 0/10 would not recommend.

I would give them a 0 if it was an option. The owner Craig will meet you and guarantee the work will be done to satisfaction but his crew does the least they can and doesn't follow through. I was charged for 15 feet of repair of flooring due to a leak but only 3 wood laminate planks were replaced. When I asked why so small of an area was being replaced when there was clearly more damage the worker said he would have to take out the transition strip which he did not have. Subsequently, the flooring still smells of mold and Craig refuses to take my word that it smells. This company will gladly take your money but obviously does not stand by their work or guarantee. I now will have to hire another flooring company to finish the job and will more than happily send them the bill...will see if he will believe me then...do not use this group unless your willing to put up with frustration and headaches!!!!!
