Dark Star is amazing! They went above and beyond to find me my dream countertops. They even brought samples in from Dayton for my consideration. I'm ecstatic with my countertops! They have a phenomenal selection that won't disappoint. Thank you, Eugene, John, and Alyssa. My expectations were exceeded!

If you want a reliable company, I would look elsewhere. After putting down a 5k deposit, we asked Dark Star to order us two slabs of quartz to look at before making our final decision. Dark Star simply refused to order in the slabs and said they would refund our money....no reason given as to why they wouldn't order the slabs in to be viewed. This would have been fine if our cabinets hadn't already been installed. We relied on Dark Star to come through for us and instead were left with a kitchen in shambles and no backup plan.

It’s been over three months since our install & we couldn’t be more thankful & still so pleased with our countertops!! Dark Star had a great variety to choose from, samples to take home, and a simple process from start to finish. Eugene is honest & capable at his craft. Alyssa was helpful & communicative. The day of install was so smooth! The installers were also clearly capable, answered our questions, and left our kitchen virtually spotless! Thank you Dark Star for your services!!

At first, Dark Star was great. They were very responsive and helpful and had a great selection.
After we made our selection, they did not do a great job communicating expectations. Trying to get answers would take a couple days at times which was slightly frustrating.
The granite was fabricated really well. My wife and I could not be happier with the granite, however during installation they created messes that they did not clean up, did not finish caulking, and chipped some of the surrounding walls.
The manager I spoke to did call and made a commitment to correct the issues moving forward, which is why I am not leaving a 2/5 star review

Horrible company to do business with. If you are searching for countertops, go elsewhere. If your builder is supplying your countertop from Dark Star, refuse it and find your own supplier. Two pieces of our kitchen countertop was defective and it took Dark Star 7 months to replace. They scheduled several appointments to replace it, then never showed, or called at the time they were supposed to be here to say they didn’t have the countertop cut, or the piece didn’t come in, or they cut the wrong piece or they had another defective lot! They are very unprofessional, inconsiderate and unorganized. When they finally did show up, and actually installed, they were 2 hours late without a phone call or text message. The only explanation for their tardiness is that they got hung up. Waited for them all day, on several different occasions. Conduct your business elsewhere. Even Menard’s would offer better service than this.

I absolutely love the granite countertops that Dark Star installed. They have a great showroom with many options to choose from and am very happy I worked with them. It was a pleasant experience dealing with Deanna and install team who did a great job paying attention to details. Thank you Dark Star for the beautiful piece of granite!

Amazing professional service! From the moment I walked into their offices (sans an appointment) the care, direction, support and work for the Fort Wayne Dark Star was above par. They were the highlight to my kitchen remodel. Everything with every other area had issues but not them. Communication was exceptional. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I’d use them over and over, recommending them to family and friends.

I've been looking for a place to make a pastry board for years and the sales team was so kind through the process. They also provided a quick turn around on getting the stone ready. If I ever look to install custom counter tops they will be my first choice.

This is hopefully going to be an ongoing review and hopefully I will be changing my rating by the end of it.
We had our kitchen redone in December of 2015 by Windows, Doors and More. We placed granite countertop which was supplied by Dark Star Marble & Granite of Fort Wayne. We were told that granite is pretty much indestructible, but we are still diligent in taking care of the countertop. We don't cut anything without a cutting board and if we use a "hot" appliance, we place a "heat guard" underneath the appliance.
The other day, I noticed a three-inch or so jagged scratch/crack in the middle of the island counter. I called Windows, Doors and More and Katie asked me to send a picture so I did. She forwarded the picture to Dark Star. Katie called me back today. Without even making an effort to come out and look at the countertop, Katie was told by Dark Star to tell me to buy a red sharpie (our countertop is red) and just fill in the scratch/crack. Really? This is the solution? I spent a little too much money on this countertop to accept this as a solution. I feel there is a flaw in the countertop and wonder how many other scratches/cracks are going to show up over the years. If the scratch/crack can't be fixed, then why should I not expect the countertop to be replaced?
I have called Dark Star and am waiting for a return call. I am hoping that they will make this right and I will either continue this review at a later date if they do make it right or will write another one if they make it right. I will also gladly change my rating if things change.
Stay tuned...
11-29-18 I just received a call from Katie at Windows, Doors and More and Dark Star has let her know they are willing to come out and look at the scratch/crack. Someone from Dark Star called me a little later and said they would come out on Dec 14 to look at the scratch/crack. I need to be home between 9am and 3pm and they will call when they are on their way. I agreed, but said I thought the six-hour window is unacceptable.
Today is the day someone from Dark Star is supposed to come look at my countertop. (Remember the six-hour window.) It is now 3 1/2 hours into the six-hour window.
And now...6 minutes after the 6-hour window has come and gone, NO ONE SHOWED UP. No one called to tell me they were not able to make it today, they just DIDN'T SHOW UP. I changed my rating from 2 stars to one and would make it zero if I could. I changed many other plans today to make sure I could be here in their 6-hour window and am really not happy at all.
I decided to drive over to the Dark star store. I walked in and introduced myself and said I had waited at home and cancelled other appointments and no one showed up. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that Corey was out on an install. The receptionist informed me that everyone was on an install and she didn't know anything about it. I said a woman from dark star called me and set up the 6-hour window for them to come look at my countertop.
The receptionist said I was on the book and they just couldn't get there. I asked if she could call someone so I could talk with them and she said no. She said she was not going to interrupt them while they were on an install. I told her I have had many workers at my house who have gotten calls from their shop while they were working and still she refused to call. I told her I felt her company obviously thought customer service was not very important once they were paid and had their money. She said "here's Corey's card if you want to call him"
I did call him. It was about 4pm when I called him. He told me they were busy and couldn't make it. He asked what I wanted him to do about it. I said I would like someone at my house tomorrow (Saturday) morning. He said that was not going to happen because they don't make service calls on Saturday morning. He said they would get to it when they could get to it. I said it would have been nice to get a phone call to let me know they were not going to make it. He told me they called a few minutes ago to which I said "do you realize how much past 3:00 a few minutes ago is?" He did not seem to care. (I then texted him after we hung up to let him know either they called the wrong number or someone lied to him about calling me because I had no missed calls or voicemails. No reply from him). Then he seemed to get angry with me and said it was a three-year-old countertop that I have scratched and now I wanted them to take responsibility.
I told him we did not scratch the countertop. We always use a cutting board and when we use a hot appliance, we always put a heat sheet underneath it. I told him even though we were told the countertop is indestructible, we treat it like it is not. I told him we take care of it like we spent $5000 on it...because we did! He said that he KNOWS we scratched it and it is not possible that it is a defect.

Does Dark Star Marble & Granite offer cutouts for sinks, cooktops, or other elements?
Yes, like most professional contractors in the market, Dark Star Marble & Granite performs cutouts and countertop preparation for various components — both standard and modern. According to our findings, these services are typically included in the overall project estimate. The standard scope usually covers cutouts for sinks (undermount, drop-in, or farmhouse) and holes for faucets or other plumbing fixtures. Additional cutouts — such as for cooktops, hidden or pop-up outlets, built-in wireless chargers, or other accessories — are discussed individually at the project planning and estimating stage.
It’s important to note that while the cutouts and countertop preparation are usually performed by the company, the installation of electrical and plumbing fixtures (such as faucets, outlets, or appliances) may not be included in their scope of work and could require licensed professionals. We recommend clarifying this point when placing your order.
To avoid misunderstandings, ask for a detailed estimate with a breakdown of all services: cutout pricing, installation, and any add-on options. This will ensure project transparency and help you clearly understand what you're paying for.
What guarantees does Dark Star Marble & Granite provide for its work?
According to our information and industry practice, Dark Star Marble & Granite, like most participants in the ranking, provides a workmanship warranty valid for 1 year from the date of countertop installation. This period is usually specified in the contract. We do not rule out that the company may have extended warranty terms (2 years or more), however, during our research, we did not receive confirmed data from the contractor regarding the duration and scope of its warranty.
The contractor’s warranty covers defects in fabrication and installation, such as uneven or separating seams, leveling and fastening issues, detachment or sagging of an undermount sink, flaws in edge finishing and cutouts, premature failure of seam materials, and cutouts that do not match the approved design. Warranty coverage does not include damage from use (thermal shock/burn marks from hot cookware, chips or cracks caused by impacts), stains and acid etching (for marble), wear due to insufficient maintenance or lack of sealing, natural characteristics of stone (veins, micro-pores, variations in shade/pattern within tolerances), shifts caused by base deformation, or any modifications performed by third parties.
The material warranty is provided by the manufacturer or the official stone supplier. Engineered quartz brands often offer a limited “lifetime” warranty for residential properties (subject to registration and compliance with care guidelines). For sintered surfaces, typical warranty periods range from 10 to 25 years. Natural stone usually does not come with a factory warranty — its quality of fabrication and installation is covered by the contractor’s warranty. The term and scope of the warranty depend on the project and materials — contact Dark Star Marble & Granite in any convenient way on this page to get the current terms.
