I finally have a beautiful new kitchen. Start to finish it took 25 weeks, even though the contract said 3 or 6 at the most. Gregory did a fine job of working with me to create a good flow to the kitchen and he came up with some very unique design features. I would work with Gregory again for design, but not this company for the construction. They worked when convenient for them, not for us. For example, they demo'ed on Friday before the 4th of July weekend so we were without a kitchen for several extra days. Months in fact. Only when I insisted that we must have a functional kitchen before the kids went back to school in September did they get the kitchen to a stage where I could get the appliances fully installed. Only when I insisted that Christmas was coming up did we get the final trim completed. I was really frustrated that they installed the cupboard shelves where they thought they shelves should be. They used cheap plastic pegs which could not be removed so I spent a whole day ripping the cheap pegs apart and installing ones I had to buy myself so I could get the glasses to fit on the shelf. While the quality of the work was pretty good, the whole experience was not great.

A BAD EXPERIENCE. Their self described focus is quality. They took absolutely no interest in quality on my bathroom remodel. They were replacing vanities for me with recessed medicine cabinets above. They removed the old, and stripped it down to the studs. Their framer started cutting out 2x4 studs on the bearing wall running down the center of my house to install the medicine cabinets. I pointed it out to the PM who brought in the owner. After several days of activity I looked at the remediation and FELT SICK. Apparently not only did the framer not understand bearing walls but the owner didn't either. They replaced the studs removed with 2x4s with 85% of the cross section removed to accommodate the drain lines. I calculated a 1500# design load distributed between 2 studs. They replaced them each with a remaining wood cross section of 1/2" x 1-1/2". The owner had never checked back, and apparently the PM was oblivious. I wonder how many of their clients have weakened walls? I ended up strengthening them over the weekend. It didn't stop there. The drywall guy, a sub, left gaps around 3/4s of the electrical boxes that all had to be repaired. He left gouges and 1/4" sharp bumps throughout the project. He just didn't seem to care. And the PM was oblivious to it. For example there was a large finger size hole beside the light switch entering the room. A VERY OBVIOUS issue, and the PM blew it off. She was more interested in who was paying for replacing the insulation their framer had pulled out. A 10 minute task. I should have demanded she be replaced then. The painters, another sub, were equally bad. One of their assignments was to paint some shelving. They ignored the fact it had been finished with a smooth coating many years ago. Rather than suggesting sanding and priming, they dove in with the top coat paint. It scraped off with the slightest effort. After they came back the 2nd day to fix various issues, I asked about the very rough paint runs that had dried on the shelf edges. You had to be careful about running your finer across them. Their response, SANDPAPER. This was after they were done. Who did they think was doing the sanding and repainting? I wouldn't let them come back another day. So to say they do quality work is a huge joke. They have poor so called crafts people and no one to check their work. WATCHOUT. They have a curious billing system. It's based on an ESTIMATE at the beginning of the job, with no details. They never disclose what labor and materials really cost, so if there are any changes, watch out. It's all their word what it costs. We replaced two $950 medicine cabinets with smaller $700 cabinets and got no credit. I attorney friend talked me out of taking them to court. He said I'd win, but I'd waste too much of my own time. I hired them because I had a good experience with them a year ago installing a small granite counter top. The guy they have that does their stone work is a good craftsman. Unfortunately they have surrounded him with much less cable workers.

CTM's quality of work and HONESTY is very poor. Just some of the problems are listed below: - First and foremost, CTM tried to charge us for a slab of granite and labor (over $3,000.00) that was NOT installed in our home. - Asked to have old piece of granite buffed, resealed and re-caulked. The work was never done but attempted to charge us for it. -New slab of granite and backsplashes were installed. The caulking between the backsplash and granite was not done. -The sink was set but not sealed/caulked. -The caulking/glue used to adhere the back splashes to the wall bubbled out of the top of the backsplash causing damage to the paint and sheetrock upon removal. -Corner of backsplash was not flush with wall and was attempted to be filled in with black tar that was spread onto the wall. Paint and sheetrock were, yet again, damaged upon removal. -A straight edge razor blade was stuck in a 3"x 3" piece of cardboard (with some type of caulking on it) and left on our kitchen floor after they were done working. Thankfully, we found it before our 3 year old did. -The counter was not level/straight so a large amount of caulking was used to fill in the "space"- so much so, that when sitting at the bar you can look across and see the white caulking under the countertop. -There were a large number of "fissure" in the granite that you were able to stick your fingernail in and run along the fissure. -Estimate for 9 baseboard rounder's (which can be purchased for $2.50 each) was over $200.00. -and the list goes on... We spent countless hours negotiating with CTM about solving the problems. We did get some of the issues resolved but not without dishonesty, inconvenience, time wasted, and the pulling back of negotiations.

A comedy of errors!!!! We bought a new house and hired CTM to do a full remodel on it. We had them come over to our existing house because we wanted the new kitchen to look exactly like the one we have. During the project, which took twice as long as promised, CTM made a tremendous amount of errors. -We ordered solid cherry cabinets, which is what we had in our existing house. When the cabinets were delivered they were veneer. When they reordered the cabinets, 7 doorfronts came back the wrong size so they had to reorder them a third time. -We asked for drawers that were 4 inches deep but when they were delivered they were only 2 inches deep. -They installed the granite in the island crooked. When they tried to fix it, they damaged the cabinets it sat on so they had to order new sides to the cabinets. -They cut the hole in the granite for the stove to big and had to come back and add granite back on to support the stove. -They dropped a piece of the 1 inch backsplash putting a hole in the subflooring and breaking off the corner of the backsplash. The took the pieces and just glued them unevenly back onto the backsplash until we noticed it and had them take it back to their shop to correct it. -They installed the sprayers in the shower to close to the walls making them unusable. -You could see the seams in the drywall they fixed and they only spot textured the walls so it didn't match the existing texture. They didn't cover anything up spraying light fixtures and cabinets with the texture too. -When installing the applicances they broke the downdraft, damaged the fridge, scratched the new hardwood floors when they installed the dishwasher and broke the toilet when they installed it. They did end up fixing almost everything they damaged but this is the reason the job took twice as long. If you decide to hire them make sure everything is in writing. We had them install new tile in the bathrooms but they didn't include the heat registers in the bid so mid job we found out we had to pay extra for them. Also, buy your own fixtures. We saved almost $10,000 buying the exact same fixures ourselves than going thru them. The mirrors alone we saved 80% from what they were going to charge us. Even after the complete bathroom remodel they did for us, they made us hang the mirrors ourselves since we didn't buy them from them. Their mark-up is tremendous!!!
