We are remodeling an extra bedroom in our home that has a built in desk. Instead of the typical wood or formica top, we wanted to upgrade to a nice stone. A friend recommended Creative Stone. We called and drove down on a Saturday expecting to see a few different slabs and remnants. Boy were we wrong. They have such an amazing selection of all kinds of stone in their yard. We were so happy to find exactly what we wanted in a remnant. We gave our dimensions and paid(a very reasonable price) and 2 weeks later I was able to pick up the finished piece. It is gorgeous. They did an amazing job on cutting, polishing and finishing the stone. It fit perfectly. I wish we knew about Creative Stone when we remodeled our kitchen. When we need any other stone, we will definitely be back.

We bought our kitchen granite countertops from Creative Stone 21 years ago and have been very happy with the quality of the granite and the workmanship. August 2022 we replaced our stove which turned out to wider and deeper than the original. Creative Stone did a wonderf job of removing, cutting, and reinstalling the granite countertop to fit perfectly.

I have had creative stone do work for me professionally and personally. I can't tell you how nice it feels not to be price gouged for products like these. I went to many other companies offering similar products and services, but every single one was just about double the price. Excellent workmanship and excellent prices make for an EXCELLENT experience!!

My wife and I recently bought a house in New Haven. We thought that we would have a year or so to save up before we tackled a much needed kitchen renovation. But an old floor pushed the time line up. So we were in the throes of renovating within the first weeks of ownership when we came upon the incredible folks at Creative Stone and Tile. They were incredible. We dealt with the husband, wife and son! A family affair and a family that’s dedicated to thoughtful, personal help. They guided us away from a piece that was unsound and towards a piece that fit our needs. They have obvious depth of knowledge and they care about the work they are doing. From picking the stone to install we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Local, family, knowledgable, great quality, I don’t know what else one would want?

Great company to work with. I'm remodeling my kitchen and needed Granite countertops 3 pcs and an island top. Called went it John explained everything to me and sent me to ElMar which is a whare house . A lady there explained the 3 different materials I could choose from. I chose granite. She then took me into the whare house with my floor tile sample and wall paint chip. They have a large selection there. I saw one which I liked noted it and moved on saw a second one and noted it. Walked a little farther and saw one that jumped out at me . I decided on the 3rd one. She called John and told him. Later that day John sent a contract to my email. I read it had some questions called him he answered them. I gave him a depot the deposit he set a date for installation. I called him when all the cabinets where in. He sent a tech out to measure. He said he would be back with templates. Following day he came back with the templates to check. Made minor adjustment and left. I received a call the day before installation with an arrival time. 2 technicians arrive brought the granite it test fitted them and then installed them along with installing under counter sink and drilling the hole for the faucet. Cleaned everything up wiped down granite and left. Very professional

They installed our granite. Their webs says they do repairs. When our counter chipped, they wouldn't even return calls.

We were repeat customers of Creative Stone, feeling we owed them that loyalty after the kitchen in our 1st home was so well done. Are now re-thinking that decision. After months & months of searching for a stone counter we liked, we found a beautiful Quartzite @ New England Stone in Milford, CT & since they don't fabricate, that job went to Creative Stone. What can I say? A complete and utter breakdown of communication with management, which resulted in 1) damaged walls - we told them REPEATEDLY that we weren't doing a back splash and yet were left with deep gouges in new walls. The said they misunderstood. 2)only one remnant of leftover material from a 2 slab job. We knew this stone would be difficult to match & from Day 1 requested ALL remnants and yet, in the end, received only 1 piece back, too large to drag to stores and randomly cut. Really? What about the piece from the sink cutout? I have communication from owner saying all small pieces would be saved for us and Ian - the son & fabricator - even offered to smooth them out for us. Nope. Didn't happen. 3) Like idiots, we paid our bill immediately, thinking it was good business and would generate good will between us & Creative Stone. What a joke! They cashed our check but it was a large amount of time before they made any efforts to repair our drywall and months later before we received our remnant. One stupid piece! As we struggle to find flooring, I cannot describe how disgusted we are. We are middle-aged folks & quite clear on what it is we want at this point in our lives & had no problems detailing the particulars with Creative Stone. They were agreeable, they were nice & then all communication fell through. They knew how dissatisfied we were & did little to aleve the issues, except to throw in one bottle of cleaner that I requested. I have all communications with owners if you'd like to contact me for the deets. Stay away! MIght've been good once, no longer. Also, it took us 3 coats of filler on top of the filler they added to repair the gouges to our damaged, new walls.

My wife and I bought a 120-year old brownstone in New Haven about 11 years ago and we have been slowly renovating it since. Yesterday (November 25, 2014) I had the most unpleasant experience with the most unprofessional, hostile, and ill-informed contractor - the son of the owner of Creating Stone & Tile. We hired them to replace our kitchen countertops. The stone cracked when we remodeling the kitchen and we decided to replace our Calacatta Marble with soapstone to go with the new floors. We picked Creative Stone on the recommendation of an acquaintance even thought they were more expensive than two alternatives. It was a big mistake. "Creative Stone" is a misnomer, because there is nothing creative about them. All they can do is cut straight lines into the stone and slap it on to the cabinets. The job that we had hired them to do was to replace the stone countetops on cabinets while keeping the existing backsplash. The new floor in the kitchen was lower than the old floor so there was ¼ inch more space than before between the cabinets and the end of the backsplash. Our cabinet maker leveled all cabinets and CS owner was at our house twice to measure. The cabinets have adjustable legs so there was time to set them lower if we had to before screwing them to the wall, but he assured us that we had enough space. We had to disassemble adjoining cabinets so he could slide the stone back in with the least amount of work (it was going into a corner). All he had to do was supply standard-size stone that could fit the existing opening. This was uneventful for three out of the four stone pieces we installed. The larger piece was 102.5 inches long; the shorter was about 2 feet. The long piece now has an ugly-looking gap as wide as ¼ inch or more between the stone and the backsplash (they were supposed to grout that, but of course they did not). The fourth piece did not fit even after minor grinding of the edges. It was only 2 feet wide by about 25 inches long yet it was 1/8 of an inch thicker in the back than in the front, which is why it did not fit the opening. When I asked why there is such a large difference in width between the front and the back of the stone all hell broke loose. My reasonable question was met with anger, followed by slogans such as "the granite industry is not perfect." When I suggested that they take that one piece back to file it down to the right size things got worse and I was schooled in the labor costs of "the granite industry" (i.e. they could do it if they wanted to; they just don't want to). Yes, it's a bad thing when you have to work for a living. It's easier if you can dig up a piece of stone and have someone hand you thousands of dollars to cut it into pieces and slap it on some cabinets. It seemed irrelevant that the failed to do the job we contracted them to do. The owner had promised using "micrometers" (and other instruments with fancy words) to ensure that the stone would fit. They did nothing except cut corners. So I was left with removing the stone myself, trying to disassemble the cabinet on the spot to make it shorter. The crew of three mean all about half my age did nothing to help in the process, sitting idly by, brooding and mumbling. I decided to stop and install it over the weekend with my cabinet maker's help. The installers packed up to leave having forgotten to drill the right amount of holes in the sink countertop (more mumbling and quiet cursing ensured when I pointed that out and made them drill a third hole). They also forgot to drill the holes for the dishwasher (one more weekend project for me). They wanted me to tell them how amazing the stone looked, even as they were staring straight into a large ¼-3/8-inch opening between the 8-foot slab of stone and the backsplash (which they had promised to grout for me). The worst part was not the shoddy work, but rather the rudeness of the contractor. The head installer was oozing hostility and seems unable to react in a civilized way to comments or questions by customers. His inability to control his bad temper renders him unable to think "creatively" about solutions that could alleviate the customer's concerns. The fact that the company promised something they could not deliver was a mistake that they never owned up to. As he kept repeating "I am trying to do the most professional job I can for you," I thought that this is a mantra he has learned to repeat even while acting in ways that directly contradict it. He said he would not leave the job until he collected every bit of money owed to him. So he collected his money and left the site and left me some of his work to finish. I am glad that he is out of my house. This Thanksgiving I am also thankful that I will got the chance to learn how to install a stone countertop (it's not that hard...). I will, however, relay this experience to all my friends and post this review online to inform others' choice of countertop contractor. Avoid Creative Stone
