Ranking of Quartz Countertop Fabricators & Installers in Salem, OR 2025-2026: Top Companies for Your New Countertop

Measure the length and width of each zone:

• The standard countertop depth along the wall is 24 inches.
• For a kitchen island, the width can range from 27 to 36 inches, depending on preferences.

• Leave 1–1.5 inches along the edges for the countertop overhang above the cabinets, to ensure comfort while working at the surfaces.

• Take into account the dimensions for the sink, cooktop, and appliances. If you have precise measurements for your appliances, it's best to include them in your calculations from the start.

• Calculate the total countertop area by multiplying the length by the width for each zone, then add up the areas of all zones to get the total area in square feet.

Installing a quartz countertop typically takes anywhere from a few hours to one day. The time depends on the size, complexity of the design, and the presence of additional cuts:

• Simple installation (one section without complex cuts): 2–4 hours.
• Complex installation (multiple sections, an island, intricate color transitions of quartz countertops requiring pattern alignment, as well as cuts for sinks and appliances): 5–8 hours. If preliminary preparation is required (such as removing an old countertop), this may add 2–3 hours to the total time.

The exact cost will be provided by the countertop manufacturing company, and you can always choose the best one from our ranking. However, considering average prices, the cost for quartz material ranges from $50 to $150 per square foot, with installation priced at $30–$50 per square foot. Of course, it’s possible to do it yourself. However, keep in mind that quartz is very heavy, and you need to know how to handle the stone properly to install or remove it correctly. All actions affect the durability and appearance of the countertop. Here are a few tips: How to install a quartz countertop

• Prepare the surface. Ensure the cabinets are level and sturdy enough to support the weight of the countertop.
• Apply adhesive. Use a specialized adhesive on the cabinets or base for secure countertop fixation.
• Install and align. Carefully place the countertop in position and align it, ensuring it’s firmly secured.
• Seal the seams. If the countertop consists of multiple pieces, connect them using epoxy resin and polish the seams.

• Remove the sealant. Use a knife along the seam between the countertop and the wall/cabinets.
• Loosen the adhesive. Use a putty knife or scraper, carefully prying up the countertop along the edges.
• Lift the countertop. With the help of a mounting spatula and, if needed, an assistant, gently lift the countertop to avoid damaging it or the cabinets.

Quartz countertops come in various types, distinguished by style, texture, color, and finish. Types of Quartz Countertops by Texture and Style:

• Natural Stone Imitations:
  • Marble veining. A popular choice for both classic and modern kitchens. The veins can be gray, gold, or beige against a white background.
  • Granite textures. A grainy texture with natural shades of gray, brown, and black.
• Solid and Minimalist Designs:
  • Solid color. White, gray, black, and other monochrome options without texture. Often used in contemporary kitchens.
  • Metallic and shiny accents. Fine glitter or metallic elements add texture and shine, especially popular in white and black colors.

• Matte or Satin Finish. A soft, non-glossy appearance that hides fingerprints and adds texture.
• Glossy Finish. A polished surface that reflects light, giving the countertop an elegant shine.

• White and Light Shades:
  • Pure White. Popular for modern and minimalist interiors.
  • White with Grey or Golden Veins. Mimics marble, ideal for both classic and contemporary styles.
  • Cream, Beige. Warm, neutral tones that add coziness.

  • Matte and Glossy Black. Bold, modern options that add drama to interiors.
  • Black with Veining or Glitter. Adding golden, silver, or white veins creates a more complex texture.
• Brown and Earthy Tones:
  • Warm Brown, Sandy. Ideal for rustic and classic kitchens.
  • Dark Brown and Chocolate. Adds depth and pairs well with wood elements.
• Colored Accents:
  • Blue, Green. Used as accents for modern kitchens.
  • Burgundy, Gold, Terracotta. Rare shades for creating unique accent spaces.

The cost of the edge for a quartz countertop depends on its complexity and type, as well as the pricing policies of the specific manufacturer or installer. Here are approximate prices for popular edge types: Straight Edge Cost: Usually included in the base price of the countertop or adds about $5–$10 per linear foot, as it requires minimal processing. Beveled Edge Cost: Adds about $10–$15 per linear foot. A simple and popular choice, so it is relatively affordable. Bullnose Edge Cost: Adds about $15–$25 per linear foot. A full bullnose is more expensive than a half-bullnose, as it requires more work. Ogee Edge Cost: One of the most expensive edges, adding $20–$40 per linear foot due to the complex profile and additional work. Mitered Edge Cost: $25–$45 per linear foot. The "thick" countertop effect requires high precision and skilled work, which increases the cost. Waterfall Edge Cost: One of the most expensive options — from $50 to $100 per linear foot. The waterfall effect requires additional material and precise joining, significantly increasing the cost. Eased Edge Cost: Adds about $5–$10 per linear foot. A simple and affordable option requiring minimal processing.

Although quartz is a durable material, it is still prone to chipping. Chips can be caused by a heavy impact or high temperatures — for example, accidentally placing a hot pot or pan on the surface. Chips can also occur due to poor installation or even a factory defect. In such cases, you can repair it yourself. This will be more budget-friendly, costing up to $100, compared to calling a professional. However, it depends on your skills and budget. Here’s what you’ll need for DIY repair:

1. Materials and tools:
   • Epoxy or quartz repair adhesive that matches the color of the countertop.
   • Fine sandpaper or a special polishing sponge.
   • Clean cloth and rubbing alcohol for degreasing.
   • Plastic spatula or toothpick for applying the adhesive.
   • Polishing paste (optional) to finish the repair.

2. How to repair a chip in a quartz countertop:

• Clean the chipped area: Wipe the area around the chip with alcohol to remove dirt and grease. This will ensure better adhesion of the adhesive to the surface.
• Apply the adhesive: Fill the chip with the repair adhesive or epoxy resin that matches the color of the countertop. Use a toothpick or spatula to carefully spread the adhesive and avoid excess.
• Allow the adhesive to dry: Follow the instructions on the adhesive packaging. Typically, this takes 24 to 48 hours. The adhesive must completely harden before proceeding with the next steps.
• Sanding and polishing: Once the adhesive has fully dried, gently polish the area with sandpaper or a sanding sponge. Smooth the adhesive so it blends seamlessly with the countertop surface. Wipe the area and, if necessary, apply a polishing paste for shine.

We recommend polishing your quartz countertop every few months or as needed to prevent wear on the top layer. Avoid using powerful polishing machines, as quartz does not require deep mechanical polishing and could be damaged. Here are a few rules for polishing a quartz countertop yourself:

1. Cleaning Before Polishing Wipe the countertop with a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild detergent to remove dirt, stains, and dust. Make sure the surface is completely dry before starting the polishing process.
2. Choosing a Polishing Product Use products specifically designed for quartz or non-abrasive stone polishes. Avoid products with bleach, acids, or abrasives, as they can damage the surface. Check the instructions on the polishing product to ensure it is suitable for quartz surfaces.
3. Applying the Polishing Product Apply a small amount of polish using a soft cloth or microfiber towel in circular motions. Work in sections to avoid uneven gloss.
4. Polishing the Surface After applying the polish, continue to polish the surface in circular motions until you achieve an even shine. Avoid applying excessive pressure to prevent damaging the protective layer of the countertop.
5. Removing Excess and Final Polishing Wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth to remove any remaining polish and bring the surface to the desired shine.

1. Natural Quartz (about 90–95%) The main material of the countertop, providing strength and resistance to scratches. Quartz is one of the hardest natural minerals, making countertops durable and long-lasting.
2. Polymer Resins (about 5–10%) The binding agent that holds the quartz particles together and gives the surface a non-porous structure, making it resistant to stains and moisture. Polymer resins also allow for the formation of various textures and colors.
3. Pigments and Dyes Added to create a variety of shades and patterns. Pigments can mimic the textures of natural stones such as marble or granite, or create unique solid colors.
4. Additives and Decorative Elements (sometimes) Some quartz countertops contain small inclusions of glass, mirrors, or metallic particles for decorative effect and to create shine.

Quartz is low-maintenance and easy to care for. However, it’s important to remember that it is not heat-resistant, and high temperatures can damage the surface. Here are some simple care tips:

• Cleaning: Wipe the countertop with a soft cloth, water, and mild detergent.
• Protection from High Temperatures: Always use heat-resistant pads or trivets.
• Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep it away from strong acids and bleach.
• Polishing: Sealing is not required, but you can polish with a soft cloth for extra shine.
• Mechanical Protection: Use cutting boards and avoid heavy impacts.
